It's clear, Ash forgot the third rule in a crisis situation!

Most Griz fans don't care about ethical recruitment from players or coaches.
Rob Ash is a butthurt, hypocritical, soup grape spewing coach who failed at recruiting this year.
That if you've gone along with something for a long time, you aren't allowed to change your opinion.
That none of you are going to support the early signing date proposal making the rounds right now in college football (which echoes a lot of what Coach Ash said).
Really? Did Ash feel that way 2 years ago when he sat in Gunnar Brekke's living room and lied to him and his parents about the Griz program and convinced him to flip his verbal? OR is this a recent epiphany by the ol' .500 ball coach?
Absolutely, until they sign something they should have every right to best their situation the same way the schools do.PlayerRep said:citay or others, do you think it's okay for a recruit to verbal/commit to a school and then continue to remain in the recruiting process and look at other schools?

Did you think once that maybe Brekke want to be a Bobcat and didn't want to be associated with all the crap that surrounds the dark pink.

But Phat, even you have to see how ridiculous Ash's comments seem when compared with his actions.
Simply put, there was a MUCH better way to handle the deliverance of his message.

Well, if he had said it in spring ball, would this many people even know about it? With this many people talking about it, good or bad, it looks like he picked the right time. I truly don't think it has anything to do with the griz. I think it has to do with the whole process. Look at what bobby petrino did to the kid that gave him a verbal back in June. The kid was true and never went to any other schools on trips. Two days before signing day, dick head pulls the offer. Shit needs to change fellas.

The other guys we missed on signed somewhere else without ever committing to MSU first, same as every other year in the history of recruiting - you don't get all the guys you want. Alabama doesn't get all the guys they want.
Just following Big Sky recruiting this year on Twitter, it seems there were way more decommits and flips than I can remember. There was a guy who committed to UC Davis, then the next week to Cal Poly, and then the next week to Boise State. Can you blame the kid? No, but it proves the point Ash is trying to make that a commitment basically means nothing these days.
Take off your grizzly up glasses and see the bigger picture in what he is trying to say, instead of making it all about UM and how Ash lost Daum to UM. He may have been prompted to say those things, I don't know, but does that make anything he said untrue?
Again, where was his "high and mighty" attitude two years ago when he sat in Gunnar Brekke's living room and lied to them about the Griz Program and it's coming consequences to convince Gunnar to flip? Why was it ok THEN but it's just f***[*] BLASPHEMY now?
So when you were sitting with Gunner and his P's, what did ASH say? I would like to know? My 2nd cousin went to high school with him and they are really good friends. They both are over here in Bozeman at MSU. So tell me what you heard while you were sitting in that living room, AZ. Because, I will get it from the kid himself. But I'd like to hear what you remember.

Well my third cousin, twice removed (on my wife's side, by marriage) is next door neighbors to the guy who's married to the lady who cuts Gunnar Brekke's dad's hair....
It's a well known fact that Ash was out spewing bullshit about the Griz program trying to get every Montana kid to switch to MSU during the dark days of 2012. But, go ahead and blindly defend him.
What do you propose to change? Early signing period is what it sounds like you want. And please don't give me the "I don't know but something needs to change" responsePhat Cat said:EverettGriz said:Rumor has it he (or someone on his staff) indicated they had it on good authority that UM was going to get a significant playoff ban. 1st, it most certainly sounds like whining to me. even if what he said was true, he picked just an awful time and awful signing day to go off about it.
2nd, most of what he said is true. coaches and players alike can get screwed in the recruiting process.
and finally...why the outrage now. since recruiting began way back with leather helmets when playerrep played the game i can assure you that kids changed their minds and coaches did the same thing. and why shouldn't they. coaches are coaching for their lives. kids are making decisions that will effect the rest of their lives. what may seem right one week might completely change the next.
and lets be honest...coaches don't WANT to just screw over kids. that hurts recruiting in the future. just look at the petrino's. bobby once again shows his character and completely screws a kid over. meanwhile his bro over at idaho is making headlines for honoring a scholarship for a kid who learned he had cancer. sure, he could have used that scholarship on someone who could actually help on the field. but i think this move will help in recruiting going forward. and let's face it...idaho needs any help it can get recruiting.
bottom line is this is how it always has been and always will be.
