Things I have learned from this thread:

Most Griz fans don't care about ethical recruitment from players or coaches.
Rob Ash is a butthurt, hypocritical, soup grape spewing coach who failed at recruiting this year.
That if you've gone along with something for a long time, you aren't allowed to change your opinion.
That none of you are going to support the early signing date proposal making the rounds right now in college football (which echoes a lot of what Coach Ash said).

Really? Did Ash feel that way 2 years ago when he sat in Gunnar Brekke's living room and lied to him and his parents about the Griz program and convinced him to flip his verbal? OR is this a recent epiphany by the ol' .500 ball coach?

Did you think once that maybe Brekke want to be a Bobcat and didn't want to be associated with all the crap that surrounds the dark pink.

Absolutely, until they sign something they should have every right to best their situation the same way the schools do.

But Phat, even you have to see how ridiculous Ash's comments seem when compared with his actions.

Simply put, there was a MUCH better way to handle the deliverance of his message.

Well, if he had said it in spring ball, would this many people even know about it? With this many people talking about it, good or bad, it looks like he picked the right time. Just following Big Sky recruiting this year on Twitter, it seems there were way more decommits and flips than I can remember. There was a guy who committed to UC Davis, then the next week to Cal Poly, and then the next week to Boise State. Can you blame the kid? No, but it proves the point Ash is trying to make that a commitment basically means nothing these days.

Take off your grizzly up glasses and see the bigger picture in what he is trying to say, instead of making it all about UM and how Ash lost Daum to UM. He may have been prompted to say those things, I don't know, but does that make anything he said untrue?

2nd, most of what he said is true. coaches and players alike can get screwed in the recruiting process.

and finally...why the outrage now. since recruiting began way back with leather helmets when playerrep played the game i can assure you that kids changed their minds and coaches did the same thing. and why shouldn't they. coaches are coaching for their lives. kids are making decisions that will effect the rest of their lives. what may seem right one week might completely change the next.

and lets be honest...coaches don't WANT to just screw over kids. that hurts recruiting in the future. just look at the petrino's. bobby once again shows his character and completely screws a kid over. meanwhile his bro over at idaho is making headlines for honoring a scholarship for a kid who learned he had cancer. sure, he could have used that scholarship on someone who could actually help on the field. but i think this move will help in recruiting going forward. and let's face it...idaho needs any help it can get recruiting.

I obviously have know first hand knowledge of what was said by Ash to Brekke, but I do know this....Ash apparently had no problem when Brekke flipped to the cats, and no speeches were given then about the meaning of commitment, so why does he all of a sudden have a problem now?
