Riley Wilson in the portal

Ya, don't misunderstand me, I hope he does get a shot. Love to see former Griz in the NFL. But, just because he gets a few FBS offers does not make him an NFL caliber linebacker.
Certainly does not make him an NFL linebacker but he will get a chance to play against better competition and if he can shine his draft stock will be more desirable.

That was your question.
Ok, now you’re just repeating yourself cus you have no good answer to why you think it’s a smart choice for him to leave Montana for some FBS bottom feeders. Why then do you think it’s smart for him to leave? Please answer before you decide to deflect again.

Where do you see the offers? I don't do twitter, so is that why when I click on his name i just see old stuff?
Most people pin something that stays at the top of the feed, that's why it looks old. Just keep scrolling past that to see the new stuff. Current offers are from UTEP, Houston, and Wazzou

Good answer for who ? You asked" Are you saying all of our good players should leave cus we suck?" I answered your question. 🤣🤣🤣

You didn’t read Oldn’s comments. He said he will get a chance to play against better competition.

Here is his exact quote. You must read and comprehend different than…well…everyone

- Very many of Montana's returning players are not talented enough to transfer "up" or to anywhere "better" than Montana
Just because you get an offer doesn't mean you're talented enough to play at that level. Schools need to have special teams players that don't hurt them. We have many players on our current roster who will never see the field.

...maybe players are seeing what Skattebo is doing....just maybe...smart choice by him...
Griz will be transition also...you might be surprise who offers him..

An article on if FCS to FBS transfers improve draft stock.

The article is comparing FCS players to FCS/FBS transfers and their draft stock pre and post season from last year.

“There were more than 300 FCS-to-FBS transfers for the 2023 season. Zero of them are ranked in Draft Scout’s Top 360 prospects for the 2024 draft. Of course, not all of the 2023 FCS-to-FBS transfers were seniors. But there were still plenty of guys who played their last season at the higher level. And none of them appeared to move their stock into being draft picks, at least in this ranking.”

“So there are 22 FCS players on Draft Scout’s Top 360, zero 2023 FCS-to-FBS transfers (who would be counted as draft picks from the FCS), and four FCS-to-FBS transfers from earlier years (who won’t be counted).

Only one 2023 FCS-to-FBS transfer was invited to the 2024 NFL Combine out of the 15 invites: OL Nick Gargiulo from Yale to South Carolina, and he was a grad transfer.”

“And from an earlier article I did on how 2023 FCS-to-FBS transfers performed, only 38% of the transfers started at least half of their games played at their new school. And of those 2023 transfers who were 2022 FCS all-conference players, only about 50% started at least half of their games played at their new school.

In other words, there have been many FCS standouts departing to be FBS role players without seeing much, if any, difference in their NFL Draft stock.”

Do you think you could name one player that transferred to FBS and was drafted as a result of playing at the FBS level that would not have otherwise been taken if they stayed FCS?

Time to scrap the 3-3-5

Could be wrong, but this move suggests that Claypool is coming in to replace Wilson in his role, which would mean keeping the 3-3-5.

That would seem to be true. Wilson and Gilman were the two exceptions that most people identified beforehand.

At the end of the day it's about the athlete. Good luck to Riley. He was a great player and I hope he finds success at his next school.

That said... I think a guy like Skattebo is a massive outlier. The vast majority of the guys that transfer up into FBS just get lost in the shuffle. I look at what Ifanse did transferring to Cal. He went from All-American at MSU to getting 70 carries in the Pac-12. Obviously we just saw what happened to Cliff. Brian Buschini went from All-American FCS punter of the year to honorable mention all Big 10 his senior season. If the ultimate goal is to get to the league the Grizzlies have shown an ability to get defensive players noticed. Who knows what his motivations are but I think Riley might be making a mistake here in assuming the grass is greener.

In the current NIL era no program is going to keep all their best players. I wish Riley well. A big door just opened for another kid to take advantage of an opportunity to be a leader on a defense that desperately needs one.
That isn't necessarily so. NDSU and its booster pony up to keep as much talent as they can.
They have been buying success for years.
