Just another out of stater's observation but where the hell is your Governor on this? Apparently more concerned about shutting down drag shows than dealing with Montana's dui problems. So if he isn't concerned about state employees getting dui charges, and with a state vehicle involved then I don't think this is going anywhere. Maybe the most rabid of you should shut this thread down and take a drive over to Helena. I believe Hoops knows him of a first name basis so maybe he represents you. Might do a lot more good than ragging on egriz for ever.

On another note have any of you ever tried posting the word s e x u a l (without the spaces) on this site. I believe mine got changed to "deed" which if correct makes no sense. If so I think Chris has gone a little overboard on protecting us all. I'll try it again .......... sexual

MSU is handling this EXACTLY how they're being instructed to handle it from a legal standpoint. The only option here is to be prudent, and patient. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Agreed
Exactly what we've all been sayin'!!

MSU's counsel advised to give a three-time DUI arrestee a raise with criminal charges pending?

Interesting take since they handled it exactly the opposite of every other university in the nation. Perhaps they simply have really shitty counsel and ridiculously stupid leadership?

So, legal counsel advised MSU to treat the 3 situations differently? Suspend the first guy for a week and a game, and make an announcement, including saying he was a bad boy. Remain silent and apparently do nothing on the next 2?

In the case of a dui or other legal problem for a coach with a one-year contract, there is very little risk, as long as the school doesn't bad mouth the guy (i.e. like try to explain the firing of Kramer). The school isn't at any significant risk. The head coach isn't at risk.

The only option is not just "prudent and patient". That is patently not true. I was a lawyer for 45 years in two top 100 firms. My firms and I advised in situations like this for a living, including advice to universities. Poor, you don't know what you are talking about.

I am not aware of any university or athletic department anywhere that handles coach dui's like this in this day and age.

MSU didn't even handle the first and second dui's the same.

Governors don't get involved in assistant coach dui's and shouldn't. The vehicle wasn't a state vehicle. It was a dealer loaner, from what I read. Nevertheless, it was controlled by the athletic department. I see your point.

I thought you said nothing could be said, or done, even tho something was said and done for the first dui. What's up? Why couldn't the coach have said what he said now at the outset? I suppose these guys could have been suspended or something (the internal actions), but I believe the dui one should have been suspended and an announcement made.

It actually blows my mind how Bobfans are buying the admin's BS.
"They're just trying not to get sued. These protocols have been in place for decades."
"Oh, that makes sense. Praise Waded."

Anyone with any critical thinking ability at all would realize that they had one-year contracts that (a) did not have to be renewed, and (b) did not have to include a pay raise for a dude out on bail. Further, let's say MSU did fire them or force them to resign (not saying they should have, necessarily). Then they sue. What are their damages?

Bobfans: Think. Use your heads.

Good to hear that they take charges like dui’s of their coordinators seriously.

But is this being prudent and patient, like Poor says.

I think MSU is finally feeling some heat.

Unbelievable.

So, now it's "Ohhhh truuuuuuuusssst uussss, we're taking this verrrrrrry seriously. (wink, wink). We're not going to tell you how we're handling it and we're certainly not going to fire these losers like we should, but you just gooootttttttttaaa trust us, we're handling it very *seriously"

*the coaches only got 1 scoop of ice cream rather than the traditional two last Wednesday.

Very seriously. Serious enough to give Coach Threepeat a raise. If ever asked, (he won't be):

Coach Sixx: "Well, um, it was a scheduled raise, and um, it was, um, according to University procedure, so, um, he's a really good person so, um, we followed normal procedure, and um, I'm not gonna say anything more about it."

Bobfans: "See? They just followed procedure. Hands were tied. Nothing else they could do."

Tell me someone asked at least one follow up question at the press conference? How about simply asking, “when will you comment again?”

Msdui can’t stop stepping in their own cow patties.

If they were going to make that crappy statement (and not do so months ago), why wait until today? I mean literally the Monday of week 1.

Do these idiots not understand the phrase “Friday news dump”?

I like how Sixx admits guilt by saying they need help with the continuing treatment comments but I think he should have been more specific. Probably meant just less shooters at the BAC. Clearly admitting fault; should have shut up there.

I think it was really dumb to say they support these goons. Should have just said we let the legal process play out and stop. Now, when they are convicted, msdui cannot suddenly do a “switch-a-roo” and fire them.

They are married to them now.

What an absolutely disgraceful shitshow going on over there in Boozeman. They could have eliminated all of this an actually appeared as a university who cares about morality simply by suspending these ass clowns.

At this point, they've shit the bed, then decided to walk in it, and now they're tracking it all over their carpeting.
