Fact: MSU will play a season with both coordinators out on bail for criminal arrests/charges pending. Again, do you know what civil settlements the DC got when he was canned for the same thing at TCU and Wyoming?

Yes, charges are pending. They did not agree with the charges and pleaded not guilty. Like I said, at this time they are innocent. The Court did not reject the delay so the trial has been put off. That is the Court's decision. A far as Garza's previous, I only know what I have read in the newspaper which was hardly anything.

Were you able to read whether those two (2) schools gave him a raise prior to firing him/forcing him to resign with criminal charges pending?

I don’t think you should be thanking anyone. Now is a time for reflection about a very serious issue. Damn lucky that coach didn’t hit and kill someone. Would you be on another BSC fan board spouting gibberish if an innocent person would have been killed by an MSU employee in a state owned vehicle? Seriously, think about what you just posted. You are minimizing the severity of the offense. He is still employed. At least one other Bobcat coach with a DUI is still employed. (I think it is actually his third). Raises and contract extensions? I don’t care what program it is or how successful they are - it is unbelievably irresponsible to keep them employed. Do as I say guys. Not as I do. What a great mentor and coach for young men. You should slink away and not post one more thing about this issue. If it were a Griz coach I would be all over Haslam. (I don’t think I would have to. Bodner would have acted quickly and Haslam would have done his job. Tax payers deserve more responsible representatives of the state and their institutions. This situation doesn’t just look bad - it is terrible. Yep, I am angry about it. Mothers against drunk drivers should be furious. Anyone who lost a loved one or a child to a drunk driver should be calling for the President, AD and head coach to be fired. You as a fan have demonstrated your ignorance and disregard for a huge problem in Montana. Shame shame.

They have not been convicted of any crime yet. At this point they are innocent.

They don’t need to be convicted to be 1. Placed on administrative leave. 2. Shown the door or encouraged to resign and quietly fade into another position with another program. (Although I doubt anyone will hire someone who has been “charged” with THREE DUI’s. None of the options were exercised by MSU’s Administration. You can make excuses for the lack of leadership and inaction. There are none that make sense or hold up to scrutiny. Their inaction sends a terrible message and the optics could not be worse for MSU. You keeping making excuses. The end.

I am certain neither school considered extending him or giving him a raise in lieu of forcing him to resign. It is clear, however, that both schools were completely void of competent legal counsel given he had the choice of being fired or resigning before any due process occurred. I think we can all agree on that.

And by the way, it's three resignations, so far. He was caught up in a recruiting scandal while at Tennessee in 2009, which caused USC to show him the door in 2011. Sorry, he resigned, again, rather than being fired.

All I know is that he must be a hell of a football mind, given he doesn't seem to have difficulty finding work given his proclivity for driving drunk and ignoring other employment rules. But who are we to judge when we've all been there. Haven't we?

It must be incredibly difficult to find competent coaching if this is what passes for what good looks like.

I didn't make any excuses. I stated the facts that they have not been convicted yet of any crime and that they are still innocent. Also, the Court system is responsible for the delay in the trial. They could have rejected the request for delay.

Thank you for the clarification on it being three (3) schools from which he was forced to resign. MSU says, “Let’s keep him coaching our players.” Media says, “Fifteen years ago, blah. Maybe police errors, blah.” Bobfans say, “They’re innocent. Courts are backed up.” Does that mean they weren’t both driving hammered? The one guy reportedly puked on a nurse for God’s sake.

Wake up, Bobs. The only reason these two clowns (one with raised pay) are still being paid by Montana taxpayers is that MSU thinks it can make a run. That’s it. Just admit it.

Honest question: Does it feel really icky to try and defend the coaches and msu here?

Stating FACTS is not defending them last time I looked.

Okay. Should they have been suspended immediately until their cases are heard?

These two journalists want to cry “it’s not our job to ask and Griz fans are just jealous”. Not the smartest move to piss off 1 out of every 2 Montanans.

@Colter, show me or find me another coach in the US or anywhere else who received a contract extension and pay raise….while in the middle of a criminal investigation…..quite probably for their third DUI. This fact alone warrants questions and answers to and from MSU and its leadership. Yet you kitty won’t ask and want to deflect. GTFOOH with that nonsense.

He won't find any because he doesn't care.

But, he'll lecture Griz Nation for caring. Dude is a friggin turd. Tired of his schtick. Why does he get to advertise his business on this site again...in clear violation of the forum rules?

Yes, and I have said that all along.

So should msu's leadership be asked why that did not occur? Is it out of line for them no to address that question? Do you still have faith in them to make good decisions and do what needs to be done? Do you believe if the coaches plea to a lesser charge that no action will be taken and the WAAC program happily rolls along?

I just want to say thank you. THANK YOU for the entertainment! The biggest irony in all this is in fact this thread itself! If the dui thing happened fifteen years ago, this thread wouldn’t have been created. Or, all it would be is a bunch of jokes and meme’s about it….. with you all laughing and talking about how the Cats are all just a bunch of clowns. Lol. But because it’s the new reality and you’re getting dominated by the Cats….. You guys are MAD! It’s hilarious.

No, you're misunderstanding the point. Drinking and driving is a serious issue and I am not minimizing it whatsoever. Thousands and thousands of griz and Bobcat fans get behind the wheel and drive home hammered after the games... and some of them actually drive long distances which is extremely dangerous to the general public, versus driving in downtown Missoula or Bozeman... which of course a boatload of people do too.

The point here was all about the fact that the only reason griz nation is freaking out about this is because the Cats are so good. If the Cats still sucked, and were getting their asses kicked by the griz... there would be nowhere near the outrage that all these griz fans are displaying now. I'm not attacking you specifically, maybe your moral compass is perfectly consistent and you'd still be just as pissed off about the situation had it happened fifteen years ago versus today. The vast majority of griz nation is not in that boat however, and if you don't believe that you're kidding yourself.

So, because a bunch of stupid fans do it, and it would’ve been handled differently 15 (seems to be the magic number) years ago, does that mean MSU has handled this well? The are scum, and you can come up with any excuses you want, but they are scum.

bub defense: other people drink and drive so it's perfectly acceptable if our staff gets arrested 3 times for it. And if they destroy evidence. And commit felony hit and run.

The leadership already has stated that they do not comment on employee personnel matters. I take it that is why the media is not asking. I am sure the leadership feels they are handling this the right way based on the information and facts that they have. Time will tell. I don't think we can determine if they made good decisions or not until due process is completed and what actions are taken and we hear their explanation as to why they did what they did especially not suspending them until trial. I do believe that will all come out. I don't believe that they are doing anything nefarious. I know these people pretty well and I find them to be good honest people. That is my opinion. I don't know how you can determine what they should do if they plead to a lesser charge until you see the facts around it. I should still think there would be some penalty. If found innocent then life goes on. If found guilty, in my opinion they should be fired. You may not like or agree with my answers but that is my opinion.
