Okay, here I go.
I like many Griz fans hoped and in some ways expected that Hauck would work some of his past magic and this team would have a great season and make a run deep in the playoffs. I believe that many of us felt that way even after several players left the program after Hauck’s hiring. We felt like oh well next man up. However as this season has gone along we started seeing we do not really have a next man up.
Am I pissed how this season turn out? Hell yes I am as I expected and wanted more. However the reality is what we got was what we should have been expecting. It’s pretty rare to have a new coach, all new staff and an existing team have immediate success. I’m not considering NDSU or even EWU as those jobs were taken over by current known quantities of there coaching ranks.
Every new coach needs time to recruit and build. We certainly owe that to coach Hauck. This time around he has even more tools at his disposal to aid in recruiting top talent with the new Champions Center etc. We saw in the past what Hauck could do with less facilities and recruiting tools. Let’s give him a couple years to build. If after 3 or 4 years we are still 6 and 5 and still missing the playoffs then a hard decision may need to be made. However we would also have to weigh that yet another coaching change could set us back even more.
It’s a hard time to be a Griz fan right now. We want success now. However let’s have faith and provide some time. I for one am very curious to see what transpires over the off season. I suspect we see a few more unexpected departures and an influx of drop down or JC transfers to fill positions for this next year.
Hang in there Griz fans.
I think he should get two more years max. No one is expecting anything next year with that brutal schedule. We will be lucky to be 6-5. 2020 will be his third year, two recruiting classes and his own system. If he isn’t 9+ wins a year then I hope every f***[*] Hauck nut hugger on this forum starts to eat their own words.
I support Hauck and I hope he proves me wrong but I highly doubt he gets it done year 3 and even then idiots on this forum will still blame stitt. We fired a coach that had a 60% win rate and finally getting his system for a coach that has a 28% win rate since leaving our program the first time.
