But, then that means the scheme isn't the problem, right? The players or execution of it is the problem. ISU's 3-3-5 defense did everything necessary to win that game.
I think there is a lot more focus that should be put on the strength training than anything else. You can recruit the best kids, train them in football skills and mindset, and coach them up on the scheme perfectly, but if your defensive line is getting pushed back with consistency and your offensive line isn't getting a similar push with consistency, then it will be hard to be the best in the nation.
With the 3-3-5, the Griz were pretty obviously a top 3 team in the country.
I really don't think the Griz need to completely scrap the defense and the recruiting when the team is THIS close.
