PSU @ UM predictions

Havgrizfan while I know Travon and Jordan are great RBs I consider them to be scat backs, quick to hit the hole and make fast cuts Nguyen is another example. Joey on the other hand is a very good power back that would rather run through the defense than make quick adjustments to avoid a tackle a good punishing back. I would hope this type of back would soften PSU's D enough to float a quicker rb later and catch them on their heals. PSU became vulnerable in the middle during the 2nd half as Cal Poly started to ramp up their running game. I guess none of this matters though if there is no holes being created by the "O".

PSU's not really tough on D.

Debatable -

3rd in BSC in scoring defense
4th in Pass Defense efficiency
2nd in Sacks
4th in Red Zone Defense
and in the top 3 in Tackles for Loss

If you are basing your perception of PSU's defense on a single game in which they had only four days of rest, and their ranked opponent had a bye week to prepare, then by all means they were not "tough" going down the stretch.

My assessment is this game could really be decided on special teams, and that might be the Vik's Achilles heal. (and by the way, an earlier poster indicated that the PSU fans were wrongly spelling the term "Viks" and that it is supposed to be "Vikes". Sorry, it always has been Viks and always will be Viks).

The stats at this point are pretty useless with all the teams playing varying levels of competition, some up, some down. We'll know more by the end of October. :thumb:

Sweet Jesus I sure hope it doesn't come down to that. Kid's been money, but I don't really want our season hopes riding on the foot of a walk-on Freshman kicker who wasn't even the starter 8 days ago.

Over-reaction a by a lot of Griz fans to last weeks results. Griz are playing a lesser team at home and it's Home Coming; and they're all pissed off-especially the offensive line. Emotions will be high, and Griz will respond to their wake up call of last week! This will be a tough day for PSU!

PSU isn't a lesser team IMO, and I sure hope our players realize that. They have just as many scholorship players as we do, and had Cal Poly on the ropes at halftime last week. I too want to see a beatdown, but I think a close game is more likely. If we can avoid turnovers I think we could win by a touchdown or two.
