Our short passing game works well against a prevent defense. :thumb:
This is exactly what people don't understand. The hurry-up offense has been successful when the other defense stops playing to win and starts playing not to lose. The coaches are so hell bent on establishing the running game because unless the defense drops 7 or 8 into coverage every play, the O-line cannot give JJ enough time to do anything without play-action.
Well then we just need to use the short passing game to open up the run then right? Except, we can't do that either. Try to think about how many times there has been a completion on a quick ball over the middle. Now try to think about how many ball have been swatted right back into JJ's face. The line is too big/can't open up any passing lanes for the quick passing game to be consistent.
The O-line (along with secondary - again...) has proven itself to be the weak link this year. Unless something miraculous happens in a hurry, these next four weeks will most likely be a bit rough.
I really with that I was as optimistic as some and believe that we will hit our stride and win out carrying a truck-load of momentum into the playoffs, but I see the opposite. We will be fortunate to win 3 of them. We will beat Weber at home, but Sac St and So Dak have played tough against quality opponents so far this year and could easily both be losses. I do think we win at least one of these though. If nothing changes from today, November 23 is going to be a long day for anyone wearing maroon. This team will be rolled in Bozeman and limp into the playoffs at 8-4 with the minimum 7 D-I wins if they can take one from Sac St or So Dak.
