Post Game - Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat

Literally the whole TD drive. Two massive DPI calls to put the end zone in range for KAY to make that throw.
And those calls were the correct calls, just timely. I don’t like that without those calls we lose the game. It went our way, and at the end of the day you could also make the argument that without the pass interference our receivers may have been open and may have scored anyways. The team that makes the least mistakes and all that….

These penalties were right in front of where I sit, couldn't have been more obvious DPIs, and Bohannon would've caught both balls had 27 not been desperately hanging all over him. Then to win it, Brooks absolutely cooked the same guy on a stop n go. Shame on us for not recognizing the miss match on this guy earlier.

"I can't believe the refs made a bunch of correct calls that happened to come at times that benefitted us, they instead should have missed those calls in the name of keeping us honest."

You guys are ridiculous.
Not what I said or meant. All I’m saying is that it would be nice to not rely on those kinds of things going our way in order to win.

You could just as easily frame it the opposite saying that the only reason UND got ahead of us so much in the first half and on some of their scoring drives that were aided by penalties is because they got bailed out. It's silly framing.

We did not rely on those penalties to win the game. #27 committing 2 straight PI penalties on the FG drive was the exact same as him getting juked out of his shorts by Brooks on the last TD. Bad play on his part. Were we simply lucky he bit on Brooks' double move, too?

Outside of the kyon loud taunting call, did they have any drives where they got bailed out by calls that resulted points?

The refs missed calls against them all first half, it's why Bobby got so animated when they finally called them for holding for the first time in the game.

But it's more about your framing that those PI calls bailed us out. Imagine if, instead of just getting burned for the TD like he did, #27 somehow tackles Brooks as he's running down the field. Obvious PI. Looks like we got "bailed out again" by penalty. Except it would be good for them, right?

Who's to say #27 interfering with Bohanon on those throws didn't prevent him from scoring? The guy got beat both times.

Again, both PI's were good calls and the PI contact changed the play and caused Bohanon not to catch the ball. The ref was right there in position. I had a great view too. I sit next to a former Griz. He agreed. I played corner. I generally don't believe in calls or close calls against corners. These were clear. Early contact that caused the result of the play to change. Minor early contact on what could be seen as a good play or good break on the ball should not necessarily be called, in my view. But plays that change the result need to be called where there is nearly contact.

Loud needs to start being quiet 🤫, dammit, and then we'll be good. ; ) !!!
We sorely missed swagger on this defense last year. Seeing emotion from Loud and Tolbert and Wing is refreshing. I expect pushing it over the line will be corrected by the staff. Hauck and McCloud were on him pretty good afterwards and on subsequent possessions, and I would expect film review will be an a$$ chewing.

( I was trying to inject a little--very little-- humor : ) --concerning our young CB's name, Wolf, but I get what you're saying and yes, young Mr. Loud is due a butt chewing and maybe some laps, stairs in WA-GRIZ, and laps as well. : ( !!! )

It makes zero sense. DOLA has been absent for some time. How that happens is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is degrees kids are pursuing. Why else wouldn’t you play for Montana? Oh, maybe the coaching carousel at that position. Hauck needs to get it figured out.
I am going to have a controversial know nothing armchair Coach opinion not worth the powder to blow it to hell, but I think as a whole, the MVFC is putting OL men into the NFL at pretty high rates. If it were me, and I was an elite level OT/OG/TE/C I would want to go where they are developing and producing NFL caliber talent on a consistent basis.

I am not a recruiter, and I know this isn't a recruiting thread, but for instance, this kid @CalebJacobs78 (on X) is a beast. I have watched him play for the last three years. This kid has four offers from WVU, Miami OH, University of Pikeville, and Gardner-Webb. There are dozens of kids like him that end up working in factories or the mines around here because they can't see a life outside of this place. This kid is probably going to WVU because they have a pipeline to WVU from Ironton. The point is, there is talent outside of the Pacific Northwest that would love the opportunity to play ball in a place like Montana.
