Post Game - Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat

One thing that seemed like UND started doing at the end was bringing heavy pressure which our o line didn’t hold up to. And in that case I was a bit curious on why we weren’t giving KAY a quick dump out route when you could clearly see the blitz coming.

I didn't see the call. My seat neighbor said the TE/receiver was involved too at first, perhaps physically. I had complained earlier in the game when I saw Loud doing too much talking, looking and engaging with someone on the field. Why even do that, and take a chance? Loud's play and that call came close to causing the Griz not to be able to come back. Had we stopped them on the upcoming 3d and 9, or held them to a FG, the comeback would have been easier. I know I'm old and old school, but I really don't understand all the acting and taunting, especially when it could result in a penalty.
 
Interesting in the post game BH noted the youth and inexperience of this years team as Griz players. He said they shouldn't be able to win in situations like yesterday yet. Unlike last year, it feels this team should improve with game experience. While undoubtedly there will be further frustration, I'm hopeful we should see improved performance and a high caliber team when it hits playoff time. Fortunately, we have a ton of games this year at home in a "nurturing" environment.
 
I swear, reading all the comments on here, you’d think the Griz had lost, instead of pulling off an epic come-from-behind win. Does the team need to improve? That’s always true, but let’s give them more credit for what they did do well … which was, in the end, score more points than the opponent. FWIW, in a game this close, you can pick out any given play and say it won (or lost) the game. An interesting and fun, but ultimately pointless exercise.

Couple more points. First, NoDak’s other loss was on the road at then-ranked Kansas State … by a final TD with less than a minute to play.

RE: Complaints that the Griz O-Line couldn’t get our run game going. Well, welcome to Missouri Valley football. That’s what they do … sell out to stop the run. As of now, the UND defense has given up less than 100 yards per game. In the end, KAY and his receivers made them pay – with the O-Line providing just enough protection to make that happen.

Their QB missed that wide open streaking receiver on their first or second drive.

Then on their subsequent series hit him perfectly in stride on the exact same route for their first touchdown. Our DB’s were getting burned repeatedly initially. Glad they tightened it up later.
