Post Game: Not good enough

Responses like this, mostly.
We're old and sage enough to remember all the gnashing of teeth about how our players celebrated in Missoula. I was not going to call out Rausch for doing the "night night" on the targeting hit, or 99 and tuliapupu being children on the kneel downs, taking cheap shots and jawing in our huddle, but alas, here we are.

Watch out guys, several of the 20,000+ fans yelling at our guys to eat shit in unison over and over are on here telling us that they reacted poorly to losing the most important game of their lives.

Brint, great write up again and the injuries/ejection did impact us. However, the injuries/ejection were not in play in the 1st Qtr that we lost 13-0. In addition, at the end of the season, we should be able to fill in the holes with the 2nd string players, especially with how much the 2nd and 3rd string played this year, and game plan to their strengths. As part of the game plan preparation, there are contingency plans for these scenarios that coaches run through. In addition, we had a number of injuries this year that the injuries/ejection should not have impacted us as much as it would have if we didn't.

I understand your statement to caution Griz fans about calling out players and coaches, at this time. You are right about the countless hours the coaches put into this game often with no recognition or appreciation. When you see the time the coaches spend away from their families to coach the Griz, it brings a different level of respect to what they do. That is one of the reasons I do my best to refrain from criticizing them directly and, instead, work to positively support them. I occassionally fall back into my fan mindset and fail to uphold that approach. However, no matter what, NO ONE should call out individual players, either Griz or Cats.

There needs to be SERIOUS discussions during the off-season about what needs to be done to beat the Cats and actions/steps need to be taken to make it happen. 2-6 over the last 8 meetings is unacceptable and MUST change.

During the broadcast, the sideline announcer said that Lamson talked to his leadership coach. Is this something the Cats have and the Griz don't? What about a sports psychologist/sports performance coordinator to prepare the team mentally for these big games?

To end, as Griz fans, we need to remember that the score was 27-23 at the end of the 3rd Qtr. This game was won in the 4th Qtr. How much of the 4th Qtr result was due to injuries/ejection? How much was due to scheme/play calling/execution? How much was due to strength and conditioning? How much was due to mental toughness?
Bottom line: the cats are a better football team than the Griz.

Excuses again?

I think we just have to accept that as of right now MSU has way more financial support than the Griz do. They are better set up for long term success than we are. We are a smaller school, with less popular degrees, and a disinterested AD who wishes he was working for a larger school but has to stay with us because nobody else wants him. Our alumni base does not have the funding to keep up with MSU. MSU has beat us year after year in not only in state recruiting but some out of state recruiting as well. They consistently pull in multiple Texas players that make major impacts on the team. Also as long as we keep running the fucking 3-3-5 we are never going to get over the hump. Our defense is too small in the trenches and not deep enough. I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose recruits now. Unless Mr. Washington ponies up a ton more money for the program and Bobby decides to run a normal defense that's easier to recruit for the future does not look good.
Great take.

13-2 both losses to the rival. If that doesnt light a fire under this program, fanbase, boosters and University than I dont know what will. 2026 is do or die for Griz football in my humble opinion. Time to circle the fucking wagons.
Good luck trying to fill all the seniors spots for 2026. No depth and back to hoping the portal will plug all the holes.

football is a competition. If a player isn't good enough he gets cut. If a coach can't beat a quality opponent he gets fired. Talking about how hard they work and time away from family just isn't reality for a big time program.
every Griz coach needs to be told "beat the cats or hit the road" this pussy athletic department needs a dose of reality.
What a stupid post

At the moment, yes, but that can change quickly, especially if we adopt the 4-2-5 as our base defense, and develop a few kids we already have into 280-300 lb. DT's as well as recruit 1 or 2 big, strong, mobile DT's from the portal.

I for one think our future with Coach Hauck and our current staff is very bright IF we address our current shortcomings and adapt--remember, we are the # 3 or 4 FCS team in the country, our cupboard is not barren, and we didn't finish 2-13 but 13-2. If we can learn and change from these two losses, Keali'i could still lead us to 1 or 2 NC's !!!
