Excellent write up as usual Brint! I do wanna add some points to the hip drop tackle. I’m 50/50 on whether it should be made into a penalty. There is definitely more ways to tackle than that and it does cause a lot of injuries. College and NFL have allowed it for years and most of the time nothing bad happens. However, I’ve never seen so many hip drop tackles in a row on key players. Intentional? Not really sure. And the helmet to the knees on Shaefer was dirty in my opinion. How is that legal when a chop block isn’t? I think the NCAA should look at both of those.

I do remember reading something where the bye was originally scheduled another week but then an opportunity came up for a game that week for another home game and Bobby was asked if he minded and he said let's do it.
The bye was scheduled for the sacred heart game I believe. Week 1 was supposed to be the return of the home/home with Missouri State. But they canceled it when the announced the move to FBS. So they added sacred heart in the bye week, and took the bye week 1

That's too bad-I have never called out an individual player and it should not happen. I am not on any social media so do not see what goes on there.
The only thing I would ever call out a player about was the player celebrating over the top of Taco as he lay on the ground as he appeared injured. It seems inappropriate. Being demonstrative toward Taco.

And then I don't recall if it was 48 or 38, throwing a punch at a fan running past him as they ran into the field. Literally just running past him. She didn't stop and get in his face. She ran past him. He missed Thankfully. Now maybe he was joking around. Maybe he knew the person. If there were any griz fans left in the stands they would've seen it too as it happened right down outside the visitor tunnel.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with you but its been pointed out the Julius Davis was injured on a hip drop tackle a few years ago by the griz. Just wanted to point that out.

Haslam never presents interesting ideas or has any enthusiasm about the future. He has no vision, no plan.. is always talking about hurdles, not opportunities.
That’s kind of my thought. There’s been too much change to college athletics in the last 10 years to have absolutely no goals for this team, and no goals met in that time either.

If this is as good as it gets with Haslam, it’s time to change. This sucks.

The week 0 game was originally the return trip to western Carolina, not Missouri State. Western Carolina agreed to drop the home game in 2021 when Montana needed to move the 2024 home game back a week to accommodate adding Morehead state.

Taco should have won an award for his best “appeared injured” performance. He left the field smiling, knowing he’d sold the act and didn’t even miss a play. If there was any concern at all for his health, he would have at least been evaluated for a concussion.

That was an interesting turning point in the game. MSU ends up punting on that possession, but the safety is ejected.

Fast forward to the 4th quarter when Lamson throws a desperation fly ball to centerfield, and the backup safety dives and tackles his own guy, leading to the touchdown that ended up being the back breaker.

Oh wow. Ok thanks. Tricky logistics in scheduling

The main problem is that Bobby won’t change or evolve. He’s too stubborn. If he doesn’t make wholesale changes next year, then 2026 should be his last year coaching. His PERS is already vested, so he can ride his retirement off into the sunset and spend his days fly fishing the Blackfoot.

The world has changed and both Bobby and UM have failed to evolve with it.

I'll push back on that a bit;

- Let Germer and Rosy go because they weren't cutting it
- Gave Pease far more freedom and creativity on offense
- Embraced NIL despite not originally loving it
- Continues a strategy heavy in the portal which was adapted from 2024 failures to 2025 successes
- Social media stance/policy both internal and external have really relaxed

He's shown adaptability, he's maybe a little slow to get there sometimes though.

Thanks for the info--I too thought tgat Sacred Heart game was supposed to be our bye but our bye got cancelled because we needed a 12th game.

Bottom Line: we absolutely have to have a bye somewhere in the middle of the season.

Loud and Tolbert came back from injuries but went out again hurt in the MSU game as well as Ramos. When Bobby talked about our team being beat up and having to practice without pads last week, I thought he was kidding, using " strategery " to screw with MSU--he wasn't !!!

Maybe he be following what most programs do and avoid contact during the week.

Taco's revenge...we were outplayed...even beat by a Taco! Some of the helmet to helmet calls are at least questionable. It happens very fast after all, defenders moving in bullet fast on the receivers. Smaller receivers are low enough to the ground often duck their heads at the last minute...kaabam! Glad Taco was able to come back to the game...a thrill to watch!

I agree with this. He’s definitely adapted the program, but maybe just 80% of what’s necessary.

The most frustrating thing is that he needs to be proven wrong multiple times before he willingly adapts. Meanwhile, Vigen adapts his program immediately.

How many more years does Bobby needs to see the 335 fail before he makes some changes??
