I don't think the tackle on Nguyen was a horse collar.

It wasn't.. I had the best seat in the house. I seem it with my own eyes.. The dude had a handful of his jersey and drug him down.. I probably wouldn't have seen it if I had paid 50 bucks to watch the game.

You should have spent the $50 on a book on grammar and spelling

Was happy to see JJ making great reads and great throws. The best throw, IMO, that showed me JJ is back was the toss to Janssen. The anticipation and touch he put on that ball alone was incredible. Excited to watch the game back on TV to see it again. Janssen was covered very well, wasn't even close to separation from his defender, yet, but JJ pit it in the only place Janssen could have possibly caught it once he got to the tail-end of the route and finally had 2 feet of space. Just an incredible read and throw.

Agreed on JJ's performance, especially when he is "allowed" to use his skill sets!

I think the only people that may consistently keep him in check are those game planning wizards on our sideline.

Reminds me of what what said of Michael Jordan's college performances. Pundits remarked that the only person that could keep Jordan in check was his coach, dean smith!

Not a sellout for Homecoming, half of the FANS not returning for the second half, and more than two thirds gone with a quarter to play..

Wonder if 2-2 had anything to do with that.

One quarter of football against Northern Colorado albit a FCS team, isn't exactly a turn for optimism, although a win is a win...

JJ and his crew were stifled IMO second half, and maybe by design or probable poor OC play calling.

Injuries galore, with another possible cupcake at UND next week.

Hopefully when playing better quality FCS team, the Staff will be ready to lead a quality Griz team..

Go Griz.

The GRIZ were so dominant and so much better the game was over with 4:41 left in the first quarter. That's all I need to know.

Jj was good, but the Oline seemed to be gaining that momentum for Jj to have more time to look for the open WR. Is our Offense waking up? I Sure hell hope so. However, I say this weekend ND game will say more. However [emoji106] great post we all need this positive for us egrizers. [emoji2] Go Griz!,!

Good post game Brint, thank you.
I agree, Peevey played a good game and that does not surprise me after watching him play lights out at the evening scrimmage in WGS.
Would have been nice to see if not needed to play lights out thru most of the 3rd then bring in the #2/3s for playtime but the team came out about as flat as the crowd and the whole homecoming pregame show or lack thereof.

I do however give UNC credit as they have been that team that will be someones spoiler. Seems to happen each year that they put together a game and take down a top contender, glad it was not yesterday.
Here's to getting a win next week and then a much needed bye to get some bruises and tweaks healed up as much as possible.

I actually was not unhappy with the number of penalties. Last week we were schooled on aggressive play. It was apparent that the referee philosophy between the two conferences is quite different in that they allow much more contact than the BSC. This week we seemed to be playing in a much more aggressive manner. When you are aggressive, more penalties will be called, however the impact on the other team is substantial. I hope they continue to play aggressively. It is a lot easier to back off than to step it up.

Well by golly we won.
Lacking is a slick Griz offense designed to play longer periods keeping our D on the sideline.
Josh Janssen is a rising star. I think I would toss him the ball with a defender hanging on him!
Justin Whitted is such a tough hard hitter. Trouble with his shoulder. Lingering injury. Great player!
Waiting for a healthy Ellis Henderson. He is a needed player and will spark us to many wins!
Lidder made some good punts so I was happy for the young man.
Tucker Schye is also a good up and coming player, he made some good moves on special teams.
I like Dan Sullivan and I feel he will blast us out of the kicking funk. Good job!
Many others played very well yesterday. Go Griz
JJ is playing as well as he is allowed. Excellent player. He is ruled by our offense, not his skill.

In the second half, it was frustrating once again to have to wonder what "The Plan" was.

There were some very good individual performances, and some great interaction between key players. That bodes well. JJ had a good game; days of old. But, I couldn't see a team strategy designed to systematically "move the ball." That doesn't bode so well.

Fans would see a very good throw, good catch, lots of yards, and then a punt. Then there would be a good run, and then a punt. Repeat. I got so tired of seeing punts, from both sides, I finally wandered off to teach the dog to "sit" and wandered back to the TV if I heard a lot of noise to see the replay of something that actually happened besides a punt.

Have we scored in the second half other than against CSU? There was a time when you looked forward to the second half because the Griz would adapt, change, beat down and dominate. Not anymore. We better do heavy damage in the first half and then hold on for dear life. This staff's ability to adapt, change and motivate has me seriously concerned. I pedict two more losses, do I need to say who they will be?

I am just happy for Lider to experience some success on the field, and thrilled that we seem to have solved our kicking problem. I couldn't care less about the statistics or final score, as Delaney was subbing liberally early in the 2nd half. I AM getting concerned as the injuries begin to mount. Some key guys experiencing more than just nicks and dings. Where was EH?

I agree with azgrizfan take and would add that our o/l needs to be much better,,yes we had some rushing yards, mostly due to Van's individual efforts (2-3 carries for about 100 of those yards)...we will never take control of the offense unless and until the o/l gels imo......this is frustrating as heck to me.....

Well for the sake of this game, it was over at the half, so the need to adapt and "win it" yesterday wasn't there.

I pulled the box score, the Griz have scored a total of 31 points in the 3rd qtr and 13 points in the 4th qtr this season. The CWU game they scored 14 points in the 3rd and 0 in the 4th. So they've put up points in the 2nd half actually in all games but the NDSU game.

Stats are great, they rarely tell a story, but can confirm who evers story is being told. So tell us about the first 12 minutes of the 2nd quarter.........

Was the best job done the third and fourth utilizing a game situation to work things out or did the kids who came here to play football get screwed by hand off after handoff? I'm not talking about running up the score. I'm talking about letting the kids play ball and the fans watch it.

I certainly don't think Logwood and Favors and the offensive line would think they are getting screwed lmao. Didn't Logwood and Favors come here to RUN THE FOOTBALL??? LOL. BTW, Gus and Simis are fully aware that they aren't going to throw many passes this season. If you don't believe me, just ask them.

Did you ever stop and think maybe the issue was also execution and not playcalling? You say all they did was hand off the ball in the 2nd qtr. I went and checked the official play by play log.

In the 2nd qtr;

1st possession, run, pass, run, punt
2nd possession, run, pass, pass and interception
3rd possession, run, run, run, pass for a TD

So technically before the TD drive in the 2nd qtr the Griz passed 3 times and rushed 3 times. Add in the drive... Where you know... They scored a TD, they did go more run heavy but it was efficient bc it wound up in a score.

If you objectively look at the 2nd qtr what I notice is that UNC held the ball for about 9 1/2 of the total 15 minutes. They ran 24 plays while Montana ran 13 total.

Additionally UNC has one if the worst rushing defenses in the conference and one of the better pass defenses, including the most forced interceptions of any team in the conference. This was a team that showed it could be beat on the ground but could make teams pay if they go to the air too much.

2nd half (like I've already said) was fairly flat. Didn't like that. However this is a common practice of Delaney and his staff. Regardless the amount of time in the game, if they're up by 4 or more scores it's going to go uber conservative.

Brint, well put, but have a question for you or anyone willing to answer it. Do you feel this uber conservative attitude is somewhat holding back the development of this team? The offense in particular. To me, it is very detrimental to this years team. I feel it is selling your players and your own coaching staff short.
