Just curious...how does admitting that the Griz did not even attempt to recruit Newell or Bignell a good thing....

I don't know about Newell, but Bignell's family would have disowned him had he played for us.

not quite the point....

It's not.

One of my close friends was a coach at Billings Senior when Newell was there and they were very annoyed by the lack of attention the Griz gave him. He still has a major chip on this shoulder about it. Bignell was heading to MSU either way, but yeah, the fact the Griz didn't even try is not good.

OK, fine, we'll go with walkons, but I can tell you straight up that Newell and Bignell didn't CHOOSE MSU over UM, Delaney didn't recruit either of them, and yes, FTR, I wish he had. So, I'll rephrase the question, what MSU kids from Montana that had the choice of both the Cats and Griz, that played for the Cats yesterday, out-played their Montana counterpart at that position?

Yeah, best of luck with this conversation.

Against my better judgment, I tried to reason with him on this topic but he is hopeless.

He actually went as far as to make up a number of players that don’t exist to support his argument. He got called on it over and over and always finds a way to spin it.

Raider, you are desperate trying to spin this, and I never made up any players. You love to lie to try to make up for the fact that I owned you on this topic. You would not even admit that Bignell and Newell could start for the Griz. You hate the Cats so much that you lose all perspective. As I told you, a current Griz assistant coach admited to me that the Cats had done a better job of recruiting Montana during the Delaney years. That's good enough for me. Keep spinning it dude!

....and there he is.

Well done my man. Well done.

Why? I have no issue dealing in FACTS.

I don't need to make shit up to prove a point.

A lot of people have mentioned that ROOT SPORTS tv commercial that aired all season, the one where Prukop said that last years Brawl of the Wild is "burned into my memory" and that in 2015 "I will be ready"...and that "I've had years of preparation".

His brain must have combust after this current memory. 8-) :thumb:
He represents his school, that's for sure. The bluster, the braggadocio, he was causing some internal unhappiness with it all as he was basically saying that he was just that much better than Jake Bleskin, and couldn't wait for the chance to prove it, as the game would have turned out differently last year. Bleskin is well-liked, and that wasn't sitting too well. And of course, Cat fans were pumping it all up that both QBs would be starting QBs anywhere else in the top half of the FCS.

Well, after the hype about being an "elite" program and having convinced themselves that they were, that has all really come crashing down this season, and the bad news really started with last year's 34-7 thumping in Missoula. Prukop's been starting for most of the games, but this year's record does not demonstrate that he's any better than Bleskin, and the program hardly has a claim to be an "elite" program in the FCS when it finishes in the bottom half of the BSC. With its 1st string QB.

The handwriting is pretty clear. Momentum is one of those things that sustains successful business and elite programs and Cat fans realize that there is no momentum. The air has gone out of the tires. They lost yet again, in front of a handful of potential recruits on site, and all the rest of them on TV.

They've put a ton of money into facilities, put over-the-top psychological investment in how good they thought they were, put themselves in an elite position they never actually reached, and blam, they are at the bottom of the heap, and no one has any decent excuses to offer. The QB thinks he's the hottest thing since Johnny Unitas, and the fan base thinks so too. The facilities are pretty decent, but now it seems like a different team belongs in them.

It's more than a "beatdown."

Good recruiters never assume that a kid will follow what his family wants. In fact, some kids will do the opposite just to show independence from helicopter parenting. In fact, we have recruited a couple of Montana kids who were supposed "legacies" to MSU.

Yeah whatever. It's not like we've been hurting at the LB position the last three years.

Hahahaha ohhh wow, yeah, hang on I'll post a link to it and we'll let others decide. Raider and GF24 owned you to the point of embarrassment.

Did anyone say it was a good thing? However, it does dispel the argument that the Cats won the battle with the Griz over those players. Why is it so hard for you to focus on what is being discussed, what the argument is, and what people actually said? You often seem to want to run off to discuss something else, and act like someone actually said something that they didn't.

Please show us some of your posts where you didn't make up anything and didn't make up stats and facts. You are constantly making up stuff and making up stats, as well as referring to your imaginary friends.

I get a kick out of posters still ripping on Stitt. Let's take a look at the first year resume: beat the number one team in the nation, smacked both EWU and the Bobcats in the freakin' mouth and got a home playoff game, all while playing most of the season with backup quarterbacks.

Will we win the national championship? It's going to be a tough road. But at the start of the season, and after the last few years, I'm guessing most on this board would have been pretty pleased with Stitt's first year at the helm.

That is not a good thing. I'd love to have Newell rotating through our backfield. Yet I believe the reason he was overlooked was because of an injury. Don't remember exactly but believe he had some sort of knee injury while at Senior High.

I think the QB is way over rated. He's a pretty good player, but nowhere the second coming of Joe Namath or Joe Montana that he's made out to be. Look at his record, he's beaten nobody.

As I noted, on the same game day, Makena Simis' personal statistics were better than Prukop's; Makena playing at PSU, and Prukop playing at UND, against which Makena made one of the outstanding games of the season.

I think Dakota is a terrific athlete but as this season progressed, his personal self-regard began to wear on his team-mates, and he had less and less reason for that self-regard.

He had the chance at the Griz Cat game to put up or shut up, and came perilously close to suggesting that if he had been QB instead of Jake Bleskin, they might have won last year's game. Bad form.

And Saturday Brady out-threw him by some 40 yards, and one more TD, and Dakota's "running game" added only 47 yards, with 1 TD, but he had an interception as well. He turned out to be "good," but not "great."

Whoa whoa whoa....

Prukop per game: 72.5 rushing yards, 275 passing. 11 Rush TDs (1 per game avg), 28 pass TDs (2.5 per game avg), 10 ints (0.9 per game).

Simis per game: 42.5 rushing yards, 148 passing. 1 Rush TD (0.2 per game avg), 7 pass TDs (1.4 per game), 5 ints (1 per game).

In no way are Simis's stats better than Prukops... None... At all. And stats aside, watch 1 game Prukop plays and 1 game Simis plays and tell me who is the better QB? Prukop is one of the two best QBs in the Big Sky. Simis (according to the depth chart) isn't even one of the two best on his own team.

I know that seems rough on a Griz player but he's a young guy who needs to keep building to getting into position to run this offense in the future. He throws a great pass and is a tremendous athlete. Needs to get in sync with things and when he does he'll kick some ass. But this year, the learning curve is still there. And as of now... There's zero comparison between the two.
