Portal ruining FCS

Talked to a big Boise St fan today. He liked Vidlak. The Cats are hardly duel threat. Run, run and then throw up in the air on the sidelines combined with a bunch of the worlds shortest passes. 9 games with 15 or fewer passes. One game over 20 (24). Ya, duel-threat. Ha.

Oh trust me, all the Cat QBs are dual threat. Thing is, they usually just don’t have to pass because most teams can’t stop our running attack.

Took the ACT as 15 year old and scored a perfect 36. He’s an Eagle Scout. Will win the state title in the disk this year as a sophomore. Has a legitimate chance to break the all class record before he graduates. Being recruited by both the Griz and Cats for football. Will probably do track at an ivy school.

That is very good. What was his best throw last year?

Over Mt Sentinel.

Best throw was 173 last summer at an AAU meet in Florida. Consistently threw over 170. Broke his fifth metatarsal on his first throw as a freshman hitting the lip. Bad genetics with that bone.— both brothers broke there’s multiple times and ended up having surgery.

I’ll bet you $5,000. Let’s both place the money in escrow.

Okay, you are "on". The Griz v. Cat game was 55-21. So, 34 points. Thus, the bet is that the Cats will be the Griz next season/fall by 35 or more points. You are saying the Cats will be the Griz by 35 or more. $5,000.

How shall we do the escrow? Let's move forward on this right away, as I'm afraid you are going to back out or disappear from the board.

Uptop, lots of others want this bet? See above. Are you going to bet any of them, or just me? I'm starting to book more trips with all of that $5,000 I'm going to win.

Set the escrow up and lets have everyone place their money it. People like you aren't trustworthy because you don't pay your bets.

Let me know where this escrow is set up. I can’t get my money in there quick enough! But, given the # of people who want in on this bet, you’re gonna need to put in about $25,000 so far. You still good with that?

I will work on the escrow. I have always paid bets.

Whoa I’m just seeing this!

So UpTop stopped bragging up his kids for a second and is now placing a $5000 bet that his favorite team the Cats football team will beat the Griz football team by 35 points in the next meeting in Missoula. Good stuff!

And AZGriz who has been more critical of the Griz coaches than almost anyone, even sees that’s a a crazy bet by UpTop and wants in on the action.

Makes sense as I think the largest margin of victory by Cats over Griz in Missoula in the history of the series is what…..10 points? I don’t know but that’s my guess.

Is this bet official?

Without any research, I recall 30-6 in '66, which helped get Davidson out the door.

I don't think we've seen a discrepancy in talent between the Cats and Griz like there is right now. Just look at the players they're placing in the NFL. The biggest error made by Vigen is that he waited one game too many to start Mellott at qb. They make that change against the Griz they would have steam-rolled us.

Is your $25,000 in escrow yet? I'm patiently waiting so I can send my $5,000.

You are such a self-appointed fine judge of what might have been. Mellott played a lot of snaps in that game and was not a factor. Truth is MSU had yet to figure out how to deal with the 3-3-5. They had no chance in that game.

They've figured out how to deal with it now. Boy howdy.

To be fair there's a lot of folks making claims about what might have been.

Go back and watch the game. Mellott would have killed us.

He was one of their leading rushers the week before when they ran for 258 yards against Idaho, and would've been their 2nd leading rusher in that game if not for the sacks McKay took because they had to throw to come back. I know you have a hard on for constantly shitting on the team and were probably upset that we won that game, but we did indeed shut him down. :thumb:

They ran the ball 41 times for 2.3 a carry. Ifanse, the greatest RB in scat history and TD Tommy totaled 26 Carrie’s for 77 yards at 3.0 y/c and zero TD’s. Tommy ran 7 times for 27 yards at 3.9 y/c. Not exactly world beater numbers. He would’ve had to carry the ball 41 times to equal what he got in Blowzeman. I think it’s safe to say they hadn’t figured out the D yet and no amount of TD Tommy carries would have changed that.

TBF, despite what we all thought early this last year, our defense was quite a bit better in '21 than last year, especially at guarding the edge on running plays (Hicks-Onu leaving was a huge blow, he was incredible at defending the run).

The defense being better in 2021 is factual . The Griz D was worse because Bobby tried to steal the 37 legacy for Robby and he lost the locker room. The Griz weren't just worse on the perimeter, but inside the tackles too.
