Portal ruining FCS

I agree with many point made here. Make the school give the kid a 4 or 5 years contract (scholarship) and then hold them to it.

This would ruin the quality of college football. Think about how many incoming kids make it 4 or 5 years let alone have an impact.

Wow. NDSU is getting hammered…will be interesting to see if they can reload from THIS:

No idea why NDSU didn't do what every other school did and pause their players' eligibility years during covid and instead kept them going, so now they have to explain the difference between Seniors on their team that are graduating, and Seniors that "have extra eligibility" that are coming back next year.

NDSU is going to fall off at some point. Maybe that's just for one season where they struggle to win the Valley and somehow miss the playoffs before they turn it back on and win 5 more NCs, I dunno, but it's going to happen at some point.

The cracks started to show this season, and these losses don't make it any easier, so maybe it's finally the year.

That list was very helpful. Bad news on offense. Good job, Herder.

Makes our graduation/portal losses this year pale in comparison…

I have been saying all along that the Griz aren't losing that many players, compared to normal years (altho, of course, some good ones), and have good replacements and depth in most areas, except qb. Obviously, an important position. And I've been saying that I didn't think UM would lose a bunch players to the portal. The Griz also have picked up some seemingly good players in the portal. Vidlak et al may be the key to the season.

Decent NIL contract voided. It'll be interesting to see where he winds up and what his new NIL will be.

Vidlack isn’t your answer. Even if he was some phenom QB (which he isn’t, or he’d be starting fbs somewhere), he’s not a dual threat. Not gonna work. You need a dual threat qb today to be a championship team.

As you know. A vast majority of Griz players love
many aspects of life as a Griz, and find their experience rewarding. Most are big fans of their position coaches, Hauck, or both. More importantly, there is a culture of a brotherhood at UM. They all want to win, but largely, they enjoy ea
ch other's company as well. That goes a long way.
Plus, UM is a very good school, that helps too considering 99% of them won't play in the NFL.

Talked to a big Boise St fan today. He liked Vidlak. The Cats are hardly duel threat. Run, run and then throw up in the air on the sidelines combined with a bunch of the worlds shortest passes. 9 games with 15 or fewer passes. One game over 20 (24). Ya, duel-threat. Ha.
