Thanks Marshall, now I don't feel as bad by what Randy Moss did to us.

As far as his time at Marshall, he was always a big play waiting to happen...but his vision just didn't fit the offense we run.
Here are some numbers for you. This is NOT a putdown of Van. Again, our offense requires specific skills to be successful for RB's (we had another guy who looked like a feature back in 09 who fell off the depth chart in 2010 with the coaching change).
2012 season:
Travon Van: 39 carries, 93 yards...2.4 ypc average.
The 4 backs that passed him:
Kevin Grooms: 121 carries, 737 yards...6.1 ypc (Freshman)
Steward Butler: 101 carries, 500 yards...5.0 ypc (Freshman)
Remi Watson: 79 carries, 380 yards...4.8 ypc (Freshman)
Essray Talifero: 58 carries, 251 yards...4.3 ypc (Junior walk-on)
All of those backs have different skill sets than Van...and have better instincts within our offensive system for finding creases and getting through them.
It's not that we pushed him out the door. It just didn't work out here...and I am thrilled it is working for him there. Hope you guys win it all with him. Great kid, good top-end speed.
You guys should watch us sometime...our backs are really, really quick...and fit the system.

Lets all hope that he has continued success and stays healthy.
I've knocked on every piece of wood as I type this.

I thought I heard something in the garage yesterday morning.
You can see the Herd reunion in the top left of this pic. :thumb:ThunderingHerdFan said:Ironically, Appy's place kicker used to play at Marshall.
It's a small world out there.
Go Griz! Good luck and here's to a great season.
