Griz need to win next two games for this to happen IMO.
I'd take this. This is legit. And, I'd love a second shot at EWU. We were in Cheney yesterday, and a couple bounces, a couple GOOD calls our way and the outcome could have been different.
spot on 68 ! WashGriz would have also made it happen..... :D

Check the ESPN link out. We really are not in bad status by looking at the FCS conference standings around the nation. There are currently 26 FCS teams with 3 or 4 losses (not counting the Ivy League and SWAC). As I post this, I have 13 teams in the tournament (have not determined the seedings). That leaves the GRIZ as 1 program competing for 11 playoff spots. Can you honestly find 11 better programs from this list that would be taken ahead of the GRIZ? Take a look at the programs we are competing with for an invitation, providing we win out. As of now here are the teams I feel are in or in contention for a playoff invitation.

Big Sky: Eastern Washington 6-1 (in) 9-2, Idaho State 5-1 7-3, Northern Arizona 5-1 7-3, Montana State 5-1 7-3, Cal Poly 5-2 6-4, Montana 4-2 6-4

Big South: Coastal Carolina 3-0 10-0 (in), Liberty 3-0 7-3

CAA: New Hampshire 6-0 8-1 (In), Villanova 5-1 8-2 (in), James Madison 4-2 7-3
Delaware 4-2 6-4, Richmond 4-2 7-3, William & Mary 3-3 6-4

MEAC: Bethune-Cookman 5-1 8-2 (in), South Carolina State 5-1 7-3,
North Carolina A&T 5-1 8-2

MVC: North Dakota State 5-1 9-1 (in), Illinois State 5-1 8-1 (in), Youngstown State 4-2 7-3, Northern Iowa 4-2 6-4, South Dakota State 3-3 6-4,
Indiana State 3-3 6-4, Southern Illinois 3-3 6-4

Northeast: Bryant 4-0 8-1 (in), Sacred Heart 4-1 8-2, Wagner 3-1 5-4

OVC: Jacksonville State 6-0 8-1 (in), Eastern Illinois 5-1 5-5 (conference record great, overall record hurts), Eastern Kentucky 5-2 8-2

Patriot: Fordham 5-0 9-1 (in), Bucknell 3-1 7-2

Pioneer: Jacksonville 6-1 8-2 (in), San Diego 6-1 8-1, Drake 5-2 6-4,Dayton 4-2 6-3

Southern: Chattanooga 6-0 7-3 (in), Samford 4-2 6-3, Western Carolina 4-2 6-4
Wofford 3-2 5-4

Southland: Southeastern Louisiana 5-1 7-3 (in), Sam Houston State 5-1 6-4, Central Arkansas 5-2 6-5, Stephen F. Austin 4-2 7-3, McNeese State 4-2 6-3,
Lamar 3-3 6-4

It would be a good draw for us and better yet a possible match up between ndsu and msu :thumb:

I see no way both UM and MSU make it

I don't agree with you very often, but I do here. The Brawl will be for a playoff spot (assuming both teams won the previous week).

And yes, I understand that you likely won't agree with the bolded part.

Eastern & NAU are in, barring a complete meltdown by NAU.

In the BSC we could easily end up with MSU, CP, ISU and Montana ALL at 8-4. In that scenario CP would have wins over MSU and UM but a loss to ISU, ISU would have wins over CP but a loss to MSU and UM would have a win over MSU but a loss to CP. MSU would have a win over ISU but losses to CP and UM. From a "standings" standpoint, that would leave ISU, CP, MSU and UM tied with 6-2 conference records and with 8-4 overall records. Assuming 4 teams from the BSC, I'd be shocked if UM isn't in--in fact, in that scenario it might actually be the Griz and CP (given that CP should end the season on a 7-1 run).

If Idaho state beats the bobcats this weekend...we will not get into the playoffs. They will very very unlikely take 5 teams from the big sky into the playoffs. It's that simple.

Why, oh why wouldn't our Griz, sixth place in the BSC, get a playoff spot?
Didn't you know... the BSC is basically the SEC of the FCS... all of the teams are just SO GOOD... :coffee:

It would be EWU, NAU, Cal Poly, and Idaho state (if ISU beats the bobcats). I highly doubt the committee would put 5 big sky teams in the playoffs. Our only legitimate shot is the bobcats beat ISU, we beat SUU..then beat the bobcats. Therefore, if the bobcats beat ISU, the brawl would be a battle for a playoff spot. Loser goes home!

Last year only five teams made the playoffs with 7 D1 wins or less at selection time. Three of those five were auto bids. The Griz need to win out to get to 7, but even with that there are not guarantees.

If ISU beats MSU, the Griz might win out, but ISU has a better resume with 7 D1 wins, and wins over MSU and Cal Poly, then add on the 6 game win streak. Funny the Cats losing could very well knock the Griz out of contention.

Will see two weeks of big games left all across the FCS.

However you feel about either the kitties or the "big cats," I totally agree that Griz fans need to root for MSU here. A loss would drop them to somewhere around #17 ... below the Griz after they beat SUU. (So the first order of business is to win next weekend.) After that, the Griz winning the Brawl means nothing much as far as playoff bids are concerned.

Smart scheduling by CP to schedule a USD (San Diego) instead of a similarly talented D-II. ISU needs to win out just to have 7 D-I wins as well. We'd be better served if MSU beat ISU next weekend.

Absolutely correct on all.

Looking at this, I would expect Montana to be in if we win out. The scenario has been played out by many on here, but I agree that if MSU beats Idaho State this weekend, then Idaho State is out since they won't meet the minimum 7-DI wins. I also believe that Montana would be selected over Northern Arizona due to NAU losing to low-ranking schools that Montana beat. The chaos that will occur in a few weeks will be insane to figure out who gets in or stays home.

Here's a very realistic final standings in two weeks. What a mess.

EWU (10-2, 7-1 BSC)
NAU (9-3, 7-1 BSC)
Cal Poly (8-4, 6-2 BSC)
Montana (8-4, 6-2 BSC)
Montana State (8-4, 6-2 BSC)
Idaho State (8-4, 5-2 BSC) - out by default (no 7-DI wins)

I've brought myself back to reality and have come to the conclusion that we aren't making the playoffs this year.. and if we did, how fun would it be getting our asses handed to us in the first round?
