Playoff Selection Show

UNI - have never beat the Griz, but always a first.
EWU - very difficult to beat the same team twice in one year, advantage Griz.
Given how the Eags did against weber and the scats, UNI would be a very tough matchup for ewu

Who should be there instead of them? Six D1 wins. Wins over Sac St(BSC champs) and perennial power SDSU. Close loss to #7 Iowa St. 3 of 4 FCS losses were to playoff teams. I think they earned the right to enter a 24 team playoff field. I see Elon, Mercer, and Weber as the only other teams that had an argument and UNI has a better resume then any of them.

Well, SDSU beat NDSU, but that's the only team in D1 that they beat with a winning record.

Check our schedule. WE only beat one team with a winning record. UNI beat four of them.

UNI beat 3 with a winning record and lost to a 4-7 team.

That's not the point though, you called SDSU a perennial power, which they weren't this year besides the NDSU game, in which I would like to know how many players for them were out / hobbled.

UNI beat Sac St, SDSU, S Illinois, and St Thomas(Pioneer Con); all D1 schools with winning records. Ok, SDSU wasn’t the dominant team they normally are but UNI still deserves to be in givin’ the other options. That is what we’re discussing, correct? Not wether SDSU is still dominant or not, correct?

That interview during the show with Bobby Petrino was bizarre. It looked like it was being filmed outside of a medium security penitentiary.

The interview was being filmed with a shaky cell phone which I assume was operated by his probation officer. With the trembling camera it would sometimes partially catch the face of a blonde coed, in dire need of a dye job, that was standing right next to Petrino. Is motorcycle Bobby back?

Yes... I skipped St. Thomas "The Tommies", thinking they were D8.

All on the field of course, but UNI doesn't deserve to be there because they beat SDSU who beat NDSU, which was bizarre THIS year...

I'm not saying that's the reason you chose, but it just doesn't make sense. I'm throwing out the close loss to Iowa St., as they turned out to be mediocre at 6-5 also.

People are pointing at our win over WA, who have one game left versus Wazzu before they go home and watch every bowl without going to one.

UNI was picked because they were good in the past, and the Red Turf will be their last game. Stamped 21 Nov 1606

So then name who you would’ve picked over UNI and why. I don’t see any choices that arguably deserve it more then them. And just for arguments sake, I’m gonna say UNI’s last game will be at WaGriz.

Glad Eastern gets a physical game against UNI .....

No doubt UNI plays physical. I watched them beat the crap out of Sac and SDSU. EWU will have their hands full. And, if UNI can pull it out, Coach Farley will have to come to Wa Griz once again where all his nightmares originate from.

Regionalization strikes again (I guess). This struck me right away when I heard it during the show, but it rolled by too fast. Then I downloaded the overall bracket: What's up with pairing two of the weakest teams in the field -- Sacred Heart and Holy Cross -- against each other in the opening round? Instead, they have several first-round pairings that pit two strong contenders against each other. After all, they were willing to send teams like UC Davis and UNI half way across the country. For example, why not split the UT Martin at Missouri State game and send Heart and Cross to those venues?

Perhaps the committee wanted to make sure that a representative of either the weak-sister Northeast Conference or the equally pitiful Patriot League made it out of the first round.

Any of them in the Top 25... Jackson State is 10-1. They probably didn't get in because Florida A&M with one more loss did, and they are 2 of the 5 winning teams in the SWAC out of 12.

Nobody in the top 25 has 6 wins, UNI is barely getting votes.

Kennesaw State is another I wouldn't have in there. Ranked #5 at 9-1, but they haven't played anyone, including their loss to Georgia Tech. I remember they were locked at #4 for absolutely no reason in 2019 for most of the season because ??? They didn't play anyone then either, with 2 games against NAIA teams if I remember correctly.

Bus trips vs Plane trips.

I would assume Holy Cross and Sacred Heart were paired together, because it's only a 2 hour drive. It's the unfortunate reality of regionalization, which often gives east coast teams easier first round match-ups.

Jackson State isn't in the playoffs, because they will play in the SWAC championship game, the first weekend of the playoffs. FAMU becomes the first SWAC entrant in the playoffs since 1998.

Kennesaw State won their conferences auto-bid, so you can't leave them out of the playoffs. If Monmouth had beaten them yesterday, both teams would have made the playoffs, which would have likely eliminated Northern Iowa.

Edited: Typing too slow and Grizband beat me.

Jackson State will play in the SWAC championship, and the winner will go on to play the MEAC winner in the Celebration Bowl. That's why FAMU got in - because they were the next best team in the SWAC.

I didn't know that about Jackson.

I also didn't know Kennesaw "won" the "conference". Groan. Okay, lets see how their soon to be #4 ranking holds up next weekend against the auto bid Davidson, who aren't even getting votes in the poll.

The reality is that the Celebration Bowl generally draws way more fans (over 30 thousand) than any FCS playoff game. And, the last I looked, each conference gets a million dollar payout.

The problem with the FCS playoff is that there are too many mediocre-to-bad conferences with auto bids which drove the expansion to 24 teams and thus regionalization.

Sorry missed the selection show- 2 questions

So from what I am gathering we play winner of UNI/EWU.Then probably JMU on the road and then probably NDSU on the road to get to the championship?

What is the path for the Bobcats?
