Pflugrad's Reception on Saturday...

We in the NEZ will treat him just like we treat Sauers and Glenn when they come to WaGriz now. :D
There was an earlier thread on this topic and this is precisely what I said and what I'm going to do! :thumb:

Yep. Treat em with respect, then kick their team's ass.

Speaking of the NEZ and the pregame...I just absolutely love it when some of the players from the other team come over to the NEZ, get down on their knees, bow their heads, and pay us our due.

Pflu deserves a special round of applause--for what he did at UM and how Engstrom pushed him out. He's not like coaches who left for other jobs. A good round of applause would also be a little jab at Engstrom.

Perhaps the best time to do it would be as Pflu and Weber are leaving the field after warm ups. I assume Pflu will go with the team through the northeast tunnel at that time.

Polite applause. Did a lot good. Did a lot wrong.

Not sure what you mean by "did a lot wrong", it appears that you and Engstom are the only two that know what he did wrong, and till now, Engstom has not enlighten anyone for the reasoning of letting go O'Day and Phlu,..

...pflu iz a journeyman...
...he'll throw on the head set...
...do the best he can w/what he haz...
...no doubt he will have extra motivation...

... 8-) ...

Here is some interesting insight on how others view/viewed the U of M, the football team etc based on what they read in the paper and saw on the news. When all of this "scandal" was over (when the Feds left town) there was very little press that could undo the relentless attacks that had went on in the local media for the past two years and many people still think the horror stories they read about and all of the allegations (Missoulian) were true. Even though the NCAA/DOJ found pretty much nothing.

I mention this as I have noticed over the last several months when I have a discussion with someone about the University and the athletic program most still seem to think this really was "rape nation" and the University and Football team "got in all that trouble" My own mother even mentioned this tonight and when I explained to her what was revealed at the conclusions of the investigations she was very surprised and said she never heard anything about that.

Ughhhhhh, there I go. I shouldn't have got started, trying to leave it all behind and think about a Griz win this weekend, and then against The Cats and then against whoever we get to beat in the first round.

I guess what I am saying is there are still a lot of people out there, even locally that have no idea what the Feds found, and what was reported (in the media) to be happening here are two totally different things.

What did he do wrong?

Maybe it was not paying attention and running the car into the ditch?

Taking the team to the national semifinals and publicity supporting his qb against a bogus allegation aren't running the car into the ditch.
Yep, still waiting for the answer on this.

I absolutely loved seeing and talking to him on the sidelines during last year's Griz/cat game. He is and always will be a Griz in my book.

Says the guy whose coach rolls around the same corner and right into the ditch, every year, right around this time? :msugrad:

at least you speak from experience?

Good post. Sadly the allegations are all that is remembered, not the facts. :ugeek:

I am among the first to think Pflu got screwed by the UM administration but ... when he comes in to WaGriz on Saturday, he will be representing the "other" team, and that means I will ignore him and hope his team gets absolutely scrambled.

Scandal sells more papers and gets more viewers than stories showing there really wasn't much to the initial allegations. That's our media today. Fear mongering, scandal and eye catching headlines are more important than accuracy, fairness and adequate followups that reveal the truth after the facts come out. That of course leads to many people assuming that the original articles on the situation must've been 100% accurate.

That's the bottom line, there's a reason the papers are full of scandals, arrest reports, and felony crime with an occasional "feel good" story mixed in...people want the dirt and the speculation that goes with it.

I can't wait to see him on the field pre game Saturday and give him a hug. He is a great person. If they give them enough time that staff will get it going.
