Ash didnt say which player or players he was talking about this past year. Brekke did inform Delaney that he was re-opening his recruitment. He didn't commit to MSU until several weeks after de-committing from us.Grizbeer said:Didn't Montana get a new coach, who then offered said player a scholarship, who then informed the Cat coaches he was going to accept the other scholarship, then informed Griz coaches he would accept the scholarship? Refresh my memory on the Ash recruiting of Brekke? Didn't Brekke commit to UM, then after talking to Ash switch his commitment in late December? Please compare and contrast in from a purely "objective" viewpoint.Explain how Ash/Brekke followed the golden rule, but Stitt/Daum did not.getgrizzy said:No. Ash is spot on in his explanation of what's happening. You either don't know what he said or don't want to know. Ash, like most coaches doesn't like to lose players that verbally commit, but understands that they can change their minds. He's asking that they inform the team that they've re-opened their recruitment so the team can pursue other players instead of thinking that scholarship is tied up.CDAGRIZ said:getgrizzy said:Did he de-commit without informing the coaching staff? Could have, but since he's a walk on he wasn't obligated to. I don't think Ash's comment was about walk ons. It was about players who verbally commit to a scholarship, then de-commit without informing the coaches. It isn't asking a lot and it's a reasonable request. If a player wants to continue to shop himself around he should inform the school he verbally committed to, so that team can continue to offer that scholarship to other players. On the other hand coaches shouldn't offer a ride to a player and then pull it to give to someone else. If a school wants to shop that scholarship around it should inform the player immediately. I don't know how often it happens, but it seems to be happening more than it used to or else the media is just finding out about it more often. Everyone just needs to make good choices and do the right thing. I think they teach that in kindergarten.
At least you can agree that Coach Ron Ash is full of shit, though, right? Or are you just the most obvious Cat troll in history?
If you secure a date to the prom and your date then accepts another date and doesn't tell you until weeks later and just days before the prom and you have several other girls you could've asked and who would've gone with you, but you turned them all down because someone had already accepted your offer you can't tell me you wouldn't be a tad pissed. It's the same thing only in this case thousands of dollars are at stake. Coaches need to reciprocate that in kind. It's called common courtesy or the golden rule. If you know what that is.
The fact that I can easily understand what he's clearly saying doesn't make me a troll.
