In the pre-trial motions back and forth between the State and JJ there were numerous statements made by Paoli that unequivocally boil down to the Chewbacca defense.

Please provide quotes.

Wait a minute. I know how this works. "You're from Kenya. If you don't show me your birth certificate, it means you are from there."

Lots of Egriz legal experts have stated that "rumors are coming out" or "from what's said behind the scenes" regarding the victim. Those statements are nothing other than Dave Paoli bloviations. Things like, the victim is crazy, she wanted it, she is pathological liar, etc, all come from one man. Paoli needs to learn that sometimes there are things that are just bigger than football, like Alpha (no homo).

And as Paoli said, this issue is not about football. It is about Jordan Johnson. When every Egrizzer conflates the two because they automatically assume having JJ means "winning," the truth gets lost in the mix. Whether Jordy be innocent (as I believe he indeed may be) or guilty is an issue for the jury to decide. Not me, not Egrizzers, not any other legal expert. I'm sure Jordy would trade never playing football again for the chance to start over without a reputation as a sexual deviant and having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. For Jordy, football last 2 more years, but whatever happens here lasts a lifetime. I wish him the best and hope that the truth comes out for both parties and the jury does its job with that perspective in mind.

On one hand you cite what other eGrizzers say as proof then you turn around and say eGrizzers are confusing the issues. So which is it? So?...your point is? The way I was reading it was that go4two was all bent outta shape because "tnt" is "posting stuff" about being at the trial, when he's doing the exact same thing. I could be wrong though...and stuff like this, I usually am. :mrgreen:

Most people have their opinions but if you boil it down, I believe that nearly all -- at this point -- would say that all they want is a fair trial and for justice to be done whatever it turns out to be. I have been really sick of all of the meddling by the Missoulian, Pat Williams, and everyone else who thinks that they can or should influence the outcome. Its in trial right now (or that should be trial preparation). Now is the time for people to zip it and let the wheels of justice run its course. Whatever happens as the result of the verdict, two lives have been forever altered. All the rest is just speculation and your wild-assed assessment of the defense strategy is not even remotely useful. Patience, all will be known in time.

The "truth" about TnT is pretty boring. Hes a guy who has held 8 season tickets for griz football since 1982, has been (and still is) a GSA member and has more dang Grizzly Prints, plaques, gifts from the GSA and chuncks of the old Dornblazer seats on his wall than he can hang at one time. He pushed for several years that Bobby needed to be shown the highway out of town and some changes made in the AD before things blew up in a way that would effect the program for years to come. The JJ stuff came to light after I was here.

He also has a Progressive form of auto-immune arthritis that has allowed him more "free time" than he would like. Yup when the firings happened a friend of his referred him to eGriz as a possible source of information. He came, he read, he laughed. He found some great football info but no real inside info about what was going on.

The other thing he found was some some great guys who could trade barbs knowing it was in fun and pretty dry humor. But even more entertaining were the uber-fans who had their noses so far up the players asses, believing they were part of it, they losetouch with reality. It was/is too tempting to not bait these guys. I can't promise I won't continue that. Its just too much fun

So sorry that I don't have a job that they can get me fired from (I don't have/need a job already been there done that) I don't work for the Missoulian County, or YWCA. (and never have) Although I am a consistent donor to the Woman shelter.

I was born in Butte lived next door to Big Ed Simonich was bay sat with Suzie Simonich by Coach Delaney and Tommy Simonich on more than one Occasion. Sadly moved to Great Falls where of all people Mick was my English teacher and assistant FB coach. My best buddy Roger Zarony introduced me to the Paoli boys where I learned from them to my misfortune the "f word" in a great story involving farmers daughters, knot holes and automatic milking machines(but unfortunatly didn't learn not to repeat it at home when the priest is over for dinner)

Not sure, but my guess is that Dave Paoli will argue JJ is being railroaded. When I originally heard he was holding up a train picture, I didn't like it. When I found out he was using it to put his voir dire notes on it, I thought it was pretty clever. Things like that won't win trials, but if you can come up with a way to convey your theme early and often, it helps with communication. If the jury knows your theory, you can still lose, but it is hard to win if the jurors DON'T know it.

As to the complainant's texts, I don't do criminal work, but it seems to me that they would not be hearsay, at least if the complainant testifies. They can be used to impeach her under Rule 801(d)(1), unless there is some criminal law or rape shield exception. FortPeckGriz?

"That room" being the bedroom where the alleged rape took place. Paoli refers to it as "bedroom evidence

Paoli says rape charge includes a "double mental state": alleged victim gives no consent and Johnson knew she gave no consent

Paoli asks jurors to pledge that Johnson is innocent until proven guilty. And they put burden on prosecution to prove guilt.
