Outsider Candidate

If this is the best we can do I will not donate the usual 5 figures I do every other year. If we do not get Hauck a coach we deserve I will pull funding and write a letter telling them why.

I am hopeful that Haslam will not make a decision based on what donors want, but rather what he feels is best for the program. Childish temper tantrums from donors aren't a good way to run a program.

If an AD or president won't listen to donors who make, or have the potential to make (and are in the process of being asked to donate), donations in the 7 figure range, do you not think those donors will be less likely to make donations in the future? I'm not saying this will occur, but how would you feel if the Washington family withdrew their commitment to put up $7 million for the weight/locker room project?

Do you think CEO's of corporation should ignore the wishes/desires of their shareholders, lenders, business partners, and other stakeholders?

Didn't Oregon fire its AD a number of years ago, because the Nike founder wouldn't make a major donation without a change in AD, or something like that. Seems like things have worked out for Oregon.

Sorry to inform you, but it is not a childish tantrum if a big donor expresses his views on who the next coach should be. That is a fact of life.

Do you really think that Engstrom is making his decision on who would be the best coach for UM? Do you think should have fired Pflu. That was a major setback for UM football.

Donors like winning. Winning cures it all. I am guessing big donors are part of committee that see resumes, offensive and defensive philosophy and staff plans. My guess is Big G is not at that level and has not seen any of that information. It's his money, he can do with it whatever he wants but message board threats aren't factoring into KH decision. In your business analogy do CEO's listen to everyone who owns a little bit of stock or are they hired based on their knowledge and skills to make a good decision utilizing all information available to him and his most trusted advisors. How long are we going to talk about Pflu? It's done, it's over and we need to move on if we want what's best for the program and the kids on the team.

Better get started writing that letter......

And who is to say we deserve or don't deserve a certain coach. As long as KH makes a decision that he feels is in the best interests of UM, I am good with it. I like Bobby, but I don't think he is the only really good candidate out there.

Should boosters be allowed to voice their concerns/preferences? Absolutely. Should a decision be primarily based on those concerns/preferences? Nope.

Spoke with J.O. today and if what I'm hearing happens, Griz nation will be beyond pleased! Once someone has all the money they need, money isn't the motivator any longer. Living where you want could be though...

Does this comment and Bob Stitt being in NYC have a correlation?

Morninwheg (sp?), Moglia? I doubt Hauck or Pease have made that kind of money and have all they need, unless they invested quite well. Stitt, how could he be set financially by coaching DIV II? Can you narrow the list down regarding this comment, or give some hints?

My San Diego State contacts tell me that Justin Green has been talking to Rocky Long for awhile about coming home. Hmm......,,

Not saying Marty is it....but if he was to come his son might transfer too (or maybe also a reason to come, to coach your son at QB)

From what I am hearing, the chances that any of the current staff are at Montana next season is very small.

I love all the "insiders" guaranteeing five completely different scenarios.

Whoever it is, a lot of people are going to look dumb once the name finally drops.

Ya why would we want Vigen, he only won 3 nattys in a row....I hate those guys that just win!
It was the NDSU defense that set them apart from the rest of the field, not their offense. We got a sample of Vigen's conservative offense outside of NDSU in our game with Wyoming and is was as underwhelming as we have ever seen for FBS. Most Griz fans are hoping for a more innovative offense than Vigen has grown up with.

Idk all the NDSU offenses I saw seemed pretty damn powerful, efficient, didn't make mistakes, and won 3 Nattys in a row....I'll take that boring offense all day. Also he had spread offensive players from the previous regime when we played them in Wyoming...Oh ya..and he still beat us!
He didn't beat us; Bohl's defense did. 17 points. Get real.
