I have received SEVERAL text messages and some email about this thread................interesting things are afoot this week.

The info I am receiving has MANY parties involved in the whole story that is unfolding. Stay tuned this could get interesting!!!

Ok I'll bite. The suspense is killing me. Who are the "MANY" parties?

Why would Vigen, who is coaching at Wyoming, taking the Montana job cause a problem at NDSU?

People don't read the whole thread before they post, do they.

Please you are going to lose assistants anyway. Everyone does. NDSU seems to weather coaching change quite well. I don't see that much impact as long as you keep your head guy. If those guys are that good somebody will take them due to the low salaries at the FCS level anyway

Interesting that he has been interested in UM all year but wasn't interested in taking over at NDSU.

This isn't accurate. Vigs was right there and many wanted him as head guy for Bison but Bohl gave him a few hours, and and if AD gave to Kleiman over him, he wanted D1 experience as OC before he became head guy....that is why decision was made if he didn't get bison job. He wanted bigger opportunity as well. You w on't find a better person and recruiter than Brent. Some BIson are still upset over that as a northern Iowa guy is head coach and dcordinator and offensive mind truly behind current offense is former und guy. Yes Brent would bring some from WYO, bison, and Jacksonville Jags staff if that panned out. Maybe Blankenship as well.

If the board of regents or engstrom wont allow bobby, then it will be an offesnsive mind that Haslem has stated publicly that he wanted for awhile now like a : Stitt, Vigen, Pease, and maybe a wild card like Marty from the jets...might be done with nfl and want lower pressure situation for awhile where he is in charge as he has his money.

I bet coach is named within week.

I would be shocked if we dont have a name by the end of the week, my inbox is blowing up over this seemingly impossible true underdog story that is unfolding!

Spoke with J.O. today and if what I'm hearing happens, Griz nation will be beyond pleased! Once someone has all the money they need, money isn't the motivator any longer. Living where you want could be though...

Have to figure out why Tulsa failed so badly. Blankenship would have just started relying on his first recruits for senior leadership this year. If that's behind the flop, the Griz should be cautious.
the team transitioned to the AAC. Was that too big of a step? Should it have been?
Blankenship has two sons working for him. Can he fire them if need be?

do you think there won't be questions about every candidate for the position?

This. All big questions, or at least concerns.

Never said there wouldn't be.

This all seems very plausible in my opinion. I could be mistaken but I thought somebody mentioned Vigen and Blankenship being longtime friends. Would make for an interesting pairing and lots of experience at the FBS level.
Huh? Vigen has one year as OC at Wyoming producing a very lame offense. Blankenship had four successful years as a position coach under Todd Graham and four years as HC at Tulsa where after he ran out of Graham's players, he ran the program into the ground before getting fired. Total: 4 years HC, 1 year OC, 4 years positions. That's "lots" for two guys?

This. As far as the eGriz conjecture options go, I prefer the Stitt w/ keeping Ty and JG to the Vigen/Blankenship combo.

You are very smart, grasshopper.

Need to do better than these guys. Still any possibility of Matt Lubick being interested in the Griz HC position?

We can do better, we can hire Hauck! Bring back Bobby! Listen to the fans UM, do the right thing for the program.

Just because they have a name we recognize, doesn't mean they are good or the best person for the job.

Ya why would we want Vigen, he only won 3 nattys in a row....I hate those guys that just win!
It was the NDSU defense that set them apart from the rest of the field, not their offense. We got a sample of Vigen's conservative offense outside of NDSU in our game with Wyoming and is was as underwhelming as we have ever seen for FBS. Most Griz fans are hoping for a more innovative offense than Vigen has grown up with.

Idk all the NDSU offenses I saw seemed pretty damn powerful, efficient, didn't make mistakes, and won 3 Nattys in a row....I'll take that boring offense all day. Also he had spread offensive players from the previous regime when we played them in Wyoming...Oh ya..and he still beat us!

Just reading what's available out there I think he might be in the running for the CSU job. Scott Frost is also rumored from what I can tell.
