Honestly, I've reached a point where it's not even about the record any more. Even if we go 8-3, I don't think it's gonna be a pretty 8-3. I think if I'm Haslam, I'm telling Stitt that under no circumstances are Semore & the ST coach being retained...and if he insists he's not firing them, then I let the entire lot of 'em go....regardless of record.
The keep-Stitt-but-fire-DC/ST bullshit is DAF to me, unless there is a known commodity out there that will mesh with this staff and strategy. Forcing a DC on Stitt has already proven to be a disaster. What makes you think it would work this time? Pure speculation. I agree they gotta go, but I could speculate that subbing in some new guys may even be worse. It makes no sense to me, particularly coming from the “stability” crowd. It’s almost the same as starting over, so why half-ass it? I can’t think of a single instance (based on performance, not discipline) in all of CFB where the admin mettled in staffing and it worked. Usually when an employer thinks they know what’s best and gives an employee an ultimatum, it backfires
Interesting. Pure speculation, but the "new guy" who replaces Stitt may even be worse as well.
Coaches hire and fire position coaches and coordinators all the time. They don't perform, get hired away, promoted to HC somewhere else, etc., etc. Nobody is saying to "force" a DC on Stitt....but acknowledging that Semore hasn't cut the mustard and getting rid of him would be a huge step for Stitt, IMHO.
