One thing I absolutely despise is "I told you so's." I told all of you at the beginning of the season that WT might be a good recruiter but he just doesn't have the motivational, insight and vision, and teaching tools that a basketball coach needs in order to put out a winning product. WT inherited LK's talent and was not able to get the same effort and success out of it. WT is no better as a coach as Pat Kennedy or Don Holst. Sorry to say but I told you so.
Last I checked, the seasons not over.
Furthermore Gboy8424,
whos to say LK's "talent" was that great in the first place. I might remind you that he (LK) left the same year as Criswell and Matthews, leaving the current regime with little, or nothing, in terms of a backcourt.
If you have no faith in Tinx, whom might you suggest? You really think the Griz can do better? I seriously doubt it.
That's pretty ridiculous. The guy won the conference in 2 our of 2 seasons as coach, and won the first NCAA tournament game for the Big Sky in like 10 years, and you're trying to dumb down his credentials to make Tinkle look more competent? Wow.
Left UM with little or nothing as a backcourt? How about Bryan Ellis ( A true PG, a lack of one is the excuse many have made for this year's team), Matt Martin, Stuart Mayes, Cam Rundles (a legit 3-star recruit, freshman of the year)

He recruited Ryan Staudacher

Zach Graves?
In no way should LK be blamed for the current struggles or should his coaching ability be questioned solely because he left for the NBA after 2 years.
This is a fundamental difference between UM football fans and UM basketball fans I have noticed. Football fans expect the current coaches to carry on the tradition of the program and demand success and when they struggle they are not satisfied. When the basketball team struggles fans make excuses. This "Ho hum, gee whiz, well nobody else would want to coach here" attitude is almost laughable.
What's the difference between Wayne Tinkle and Rob Phenicie? Wayne Tinkle has a larger network of personal friends in the Missoula area and UM alumni.
