The only negative from last season, along with losing to a bad msu team two years in a row and missing the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year, was the fact that Stitt only beat 1 Non-Scholarship team and the rest were weak teams with losing records. No good win at all.

They beat NAU when they were #9 in the f***[*] country using a 3rd string QB/converted H-back. Seriously, what does it take to have a “quality win” these days?

Coach Stitt is a great guy. No denying that at all. I hope he gets that promotion to OC in Stillwater and makes a boatload of cash. He deserves it.

NAU was a 7-5 team that outscored their opponents by a whopping 7 points. They lost their undeserved playoff game to non-scholarship San Diego 41-10. When that is the game you point to as the highlight of the season, it says something about the season.

The bottom line is coach Stitt gave all he had but fell short of Grizzly standards on the field! One win over NDSU was not going to keep his job forever!= Win the BSC ,beat Bozeman and get 2 playoff wins is the standard here... Bobby Hauck will bring Montana back to playing hard physical football and he will be prepared in all three disciplines every game! I thank coach Stitt and think he will do well at OSU where he can concentrate on just offense... He will go to OSU a better coach and a better man! The Griz will return to the top of the FCS and will hang more NC' banners in the stadium no doubt!!! Go Griz!

I know you are joking but Stitt hired Semore so Stitt could have the defense he wanted. Semore designed his gameplans around what Stitt wanted out of the defense.

They were #9 in the country. No “qualifiers” can change that fact. We beat them heads up, neither with our starting QB. Not sure why that’s so hard to admit.

Going back that far was exactly my point. Time and winning will quickly heal those wounds. Kem makes it sound like he’s scared for life because of a now rare two game winning streak against us. Yes, it sucked but that’s sports and we will now quickly own them again since we have a coach that considers the brawl THE most important game on the schedule, maybe even natty’s.

The quality and success of Griz football then and now, and the comparable quality and success of the 2 teams then is now, is completely different. Griz fans expect and are used to the Griz beating the Cats, since '84. Those expectations were reversed before '85 (a few years after when UM started to dominate).

While I don't live and die on whether the Griz beat the Cats, I know a lot of UM fans who do, or come close to feeling that way. That's why I posted before the Cat game this year, that I didn't think Haslam would be able to renew Stitt if the Griz lost to the Cats and didn't make the playoffs, again. I didn't base that comment on what Haslam would want to do; I based it on what I assumed would be overwhelming pressure from Griz fans and top financial supporters.

That was a very nice and heartfelt statement. Very well done. I didn't doubt that the non-renewal was hard on him and his family (and the assistants). However, you could really see that in his statement.

I liked him personally. I liked how he ran his QB Club meetings and how directly and honestly he talked.

While I can understand the reasons for non-renewal, and didn't think Haslam could renew if the Cat game was lost and no playoffs again (although I thought the Griz would win the game), I can other understand the other side, i.e. Stitt's and others (like CDA's) view.

His win over NDSU was one of the great wins in UM history, and incredibly exciting and historic (ESPN and lots of viewers and attention). My view is that he was very close to more wins and having more time to get back towards the top.

I wish him well. I believe he will be successful, if not very successful, in the future.

It's one thing to lose some games to Kramer-led MSU with Lulay at the helm, when they were arguably our match if not better. It's quite another thing to lose two years in a row to MSU teams with losing records and a one dimensional offense that could be defended with any leadership at all.
