Still, the opportunity for the NCAA to set an example without having a fist fight because it was self-reported lent itself to dealing out a stiff penalty and saying it would have been a lot worse if we found it ourselves. Attempting to make an example of UND. Now the result is most likely second thoughts on self reporting until the NCAA actually starts real investigations of this violation. UND compliance department is a turd in the punch bowl right now with their fan base, even though they were doing their job. The guilty coach most likely has “ former“ in front of his title.

Agree 100%. Think that’s what they tried to do too, based on the verbiage of the punishment. Of course, intent and actual execution can vary greatly sometimes!

Everybody is going to blur the lines between what’s allowed and what isn’t. Give a bunch of lawyers time to look at any football program and they’ll find something, doesn’t matter who it is.

This is insane to punish them for that, in today's environment. How many posters on here and how many of our players in the last 2-3 years have we openly heard say they had offers from other places. . .and they were not even in the portal. Having said that, they should crack down extremely hard on every team in college football that is recruiting players and/or having conversations with players that are currently on teams. It is so easy for a player to sit back and let the phone ring, after they have a great year. Shoot, my nephew got a huge payday to go to another basketball team last year. . .and he barely played for them once he got there. He was not in the portal, they found him off another team. It happens all the time. Poor UND got made a small example of, but every SEC, BIG 10, BIG 12, ACC team should be penalized for most of their rosters.
