$40,000 is no small chunk o' change. Obviously if ticket prices average $10, you'd need 4,000 people to attend just to break even on the guarantee money. I doubt we'd draw 4,000, sadly. And of course, there'd still be costs associated with staffing, security, etc.

Still, I'd hope that UM would make a strong bid for a second round game.

Unless something changes, don't expect Montana to host a game until the championship round.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If more fans would have attended games the last few years, then maybe the GRIZ would have fronted the $40,000 for a home game. I wish they were hosting games in this, but understand why they are not.

Thanks Kyle. That's too bad, but I certainly understand the economics.

Sounds like we need a Gordie Fix circa 1989 solution.

Nevada says they are livestreaming the Griz/Nevada game. http://www.nevadawolfpack.com/videos/

Can't tell if this is no charge or some type of subscription. Any tech savvy egrizzers know?

Looks like the site is similar to bigsky.tv
after getting through the Login (no cost)
I at least got their softball game up....
& it will Chromecast

Learfield must not be involved :thumb:

Lone Watie: "We thought about it for a long time. 'Endeavor to Persevere.' And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union." Great movie quote. Where else can you use it, unless it's dropped in your lap? Game only means another chance to listen to Mick-isms. Go Mick! Go Griz!

That's disappointing. I realize $40,000 is a lot, but to see teams like Seattle and others that don't draw as well as the Griz (and are WAY down there in RPI) hosting games while the Griz have to travel bothers me. This team deserves more home games.

Maybe if the U of M put a better effort out promoting a game that they are hosting they could break even on it at least after considering tickets sold, food & beverages sold, etc. The last time the Griz hosted one of these games (against Duquesne) I honestly felt that the U of M didn't do a very good job promoting that game.

If the Griz get past Nevada the next game is against either EWU or Pepperdine. I could see that being a good draw here if promoted well. EWU has become a bit of a BB rival for us lately, and Pepperdine is a quality WCC team who beat us earlier in the year. I'm sure they could find ways to hype up either of those games and increase the attendance!

The problem is, of course, that the same people -- more or less -- are in charge of the promotion department. "They" are not very likely to see the light and suddenly crank up a hot-shot promotion. We're not in or around Missoula, but I suggest that those of you who are start a "grass-roots" promotion right here on eGriz if/when the Griz do host a home CBI game.

It's game time! Good quality stream so far.

Griz are starting Wright, Oguine, Breunig, Krslovic and Lopez.

Krslovic on Oliver right now. Probably will be doubling him a lot like we did to Bolomboy.

Griz up 11-7 with about 16:20 to go in the half. Lopez 3-4 from 3 so far. Looking pretty good so far! Have a couple steals too against Nevada, one that resulted in a layup for Breunig.

If we're hitting our 3s tonight hopefully that'll get them out of doubling Breunig so much.

Bucket by Nevada, then a great move by Oguine on the other end puts the Griz up 13-9. Lopez just took a charge too so Griz ball again after the timeout. Both teams shooting very well so far. Griz 5-7, Nevada 4-5. Nevada has 3 turnovers though so far.

Griz D showing really well so far.

Great shot by Wright, miss by Nevada, and Dunn hits a 3. Griz up 18-9!

Couple turnovers in a row made it 18-13 but Dunn answers with a 3, 21-13 now. Miss for Nevada... 3 by Lopez! Griz up 24-13.

Griz are 6-9 from 3 so far. Sure hope we continue to shoot hot this game & maybe open up things inside for Breunig a bit.
