New University president?

If that’s the case then why wouldn’t he just say they have plans to invite multiple finalists to campus? Instead of just leaving it at one finalist that’s coming April 6-7, he could have provided another future date for another finalist shortly after that, but he made no mention of that. Seems to indicate that for now they only have one finalist.
No, i think this aint it. They say "invite a finalist candidate". If this was it, I'd think they'd say "invite the finalist candidate".

If you only have one finalist, is it even finalist? Or is that the champ?
The definition of the word finalist is a person or group competing in a final. Think of it in Highlander terms. They were in a competition to where eventually there could be only one. Then he would no longer be a finalist. He'd be the last remaining immortal, or in our case candidate. Not as awesome but prestigious none the less.

Look maybe there are multiple finalists, but if that’s the case then why wouldn’t he just say that? All he had to say was “we’re planning to bring multiple finalists to campus, with the first one scheduled to be here April 6-7”. I just thought the way it was worded was odd.

At the M.
Better a cage match to the death (or submission) and charge for it, watch parties, coffee mugs and other swag.

Candidates for a university leadership position can put themselves at risk of losing their current job, or simply not being considered for promotion in their current institution, if their application becomes public. This is especially true given enrollment challenges, threats of slashing research overheads, etc.. I would bet at least $0.05 there could be other candidates the committee would want to bring to campus, but will only do it if the current 'finalist' isn't chosen for the job.

In academia the fear of not being promoted or having to go back to your guaranteed tenure-track position reduces the quality of applicants, which sucks.

At MSU there are sometimes department heads, VPs, Deans, etc., that have a 'sudden' trip they need to go on and it's always assumed that they're in an application pool for a position, and that they don't want to make it public. Can't blame them.

Best of luck on the new president search griz frienemies.

I was a state Finalist in all the sports. It was the finals - I beat the other Finalist.

By simple English and even a hint of common sense - there must be at least 2...

Even Bama gets it with his Alabama education. 😃

This is why I will dominate the eGriz.com olympics.
Most of my education years were in Montana. The only school ive attended in Alabama is the School of Hard Knocks. I just signed up for another semester for continuous education purposes.

If my sources are correct, the Griz faithful are going to like one of the finalists above all others. In my opinion, they would create a renaissance at UM that would catapult the future trajectory of the university and Griz sports.
Is this *THE* finalist who has been invited for an on campus visit?

Perhaps one with deep ties to UM👍🏻

When will they announce the finalists?

I think we have three more formal rounds of eGriz riddles before the Triumvirate of Strong Families convenes to discuss the possibility of releasing the middle initial of the finalist with the hardest nose to the public. Until then, let’s just hope my sources are correct. I think there will be big things to come. More will be revealed. I’ve said too much.
