New University president?

You have to love offseason egriz.

There was an argument here a while back where one of the participants unironically offered to have a mile long footrace to determine who is right. We could do like a whole Egriz Olympics to settle a bunch of threads using various feats of strength; proceeds go to the NIL fund. Would need to get a lot of liability waivers signed for hip replacements though.
Egriz olympics, a once a year summer event, all betting proceeds go to the Nil fund. Now that’s something i could get behind.

This thread got weird fast. Still no word on the university president it seems
They’re providing weekly updates on Thursdays on the President Search webpage. When the next one gets posted, I’ll share it with everyone here. The last update said they narrowed the search to 10 candidates that they wanted to interview, and that they added a couple more members to the search process. One of them being Deputy AD Greg Sundberg.

I also found out today that there are several other president jobs open in the area. NDSU has 3 finalists on campus this week for their job, Wyoming is having finalists on their campus next week, and Boise State just re-started their search a couple weeks ago after it had been on pause since October. So there’s a lot of competition right now in neighboring states. Probably some crossover in each applicant pool. Even Weber State has an opening, and Northern Colorado will have one pretty soon as well. BSC and MWC schools going through some change right now.

Went to the GSA event in Butte last night and got an update from Haslam on the President search. He said no one in the current president's cabinet is involved in the search, but he did say that the BOR plans to make a hire by mid April. He did confirm that Sundberg is apart of the process, but that he had to sign an NDA and is not allowed to talk about any of the candidates involved until the finalists are announced. Haslam did say he feels better about us getting a President that cares about Athletics now that Sundberg is involved in the process.

Hopefully we'll get more of an update tomorrow when the next weekly update comes out from Christian!

Thx for the report.

BIG Update! Looks like the working group has identified a finalist and are planning to bring that individual to campus April 6-7. Kind of odd that they're only bringing one finalist to campus. They must be head and shoulders above everybody else or something? What happens if they bring them to campus and people don't like him/her? Seems interesting. I'll look forward to this in about 11 days!

Good afternoon University of Montana:

The working group has made outstanding progress over the past several weeks. Their thoughtful approach and dedication have been instrumental in advancing this important work.

I am pleased to report that the search process continues to be highly productive, and plans are underway to invite a finalist candidate to campus on April 6–7. A schedule is being developed to facilitate meaningful engagement across the campus community.

Additional details, including the candidate’s profile and full itinerary, will be shared once plans are finalized. We sincerely appreciate the continued support and participation of our campus community as we move into this next phase.

I still think Clay Christian is going to end up hiring himself.

I'm not reading anywhere that he/she is the only finalist.

No, but the visit for this candidate is scheduled for April 6-7. And no other visits by prospective candidates were scheduled. Nor did Clayton say anything about scheduling more candidates. So, it seems probable this person is THE candidate.

If that’s the case then why wouldn’t he just say they have plans to invite multiple finalists to campus? Instead of just leaving it at one finalist that’s coming April 6-7, he could have provided another future date for another finalist shortly after that, but he made no mention of that. Seems to indicate that for now they only have one finalist.
