New Uniforms

Nope... Someone is f$&King with you youngsters. Though it seems to have garnered the actual desired effect, to have their design vetted by a representative sampling of the fanbase. Hope they decide to hire this guy/gal. Goodness knows the marketing group could use the help. For the record, AJ was right, way too "busy", but an admirable effort none the less.

Loved the look of the mock-up helmet. I think its a little too busy (reminds me of the awful Military Day helmets a couple years back with the Griz logo on the sides & the giant black paw on the back) but I do love the metallic look and hope something like that is in the works. I think the Griz nailed it last year with the right amount of combos/helmet decals and Im excited to see what Nike comes up with this year!

My with Griz71....please put the names back. Senility has set in and I cant remember numbers to names.

I agree. Names are needed when players share numbers. Also, last year when the jerseys scrunched up, you couldn't read the numbers.

----->BULLSEYE<----- runcatchscore :!:

The numbers were hard to read for everyone, including announcers, even if they weren't scrunched up. I can't count the times the announcers messed up 86 for 88, or 26 and 28. (those 6's looked like 8's)

Better numbers are indeed in order.

And NAMES ON THE BACK for sure :!:

I love Nike uniforms in general however.

I don't think they will go back to names - someone said it costs less and they'll spend the savings on more combinations. It's what they do.
The cost savings of not putting names on uniforms was $3,000. UM could save that by not scheduling a single night game.
Let me rephrase that. UM could pay for the names ten times over if they offered beer at the concessions (Stadium and Field House).

I notice that "Iron Griz" UM's restaurant at the Golf Course, serves beer. That's "on campus."

Montana doesn't have a team apparel deal with Nike

Why are they listed as one of the nike sponsored teams then on line. Why does that article in the Kaiman say they are part of the Nike elite program??? I need answers damnit.

The Nike apparel and footwear provided to UM Athletics is donated from the University of Montana Foundation.

Curious, what is a Nike elite partner?

This appears to be an accounting/tax planning workaround for Nike, the Foundation, Athletics, or any combination thereof, with no subterfuge intended or implemented.

So basically what I have gathered from all of this is.....were a nike program. :thumb:

Wonder what the new uniforms would look like if we moved up?

I was wondering if Bobby Hauck might come back if we got new unis and moved up (now that we have lights)

Yes not an "official " helmet by UM. Sort of like the one MSU denied a couple years ago. I think this new Griz helmet would be a big hit.

For folks that are saying it is too busy - one thing to keep in mind is that it is pretty standard practice to have more than one design on a prototype.

When teams get new uniforms it is extremely common to have different logos in different spots all over the uniform.

K. Sample - What is the Nike elite partnership? I remember Haslam a while ago saying something along the lines of, "every program at our level is envious of the Nike / UM Athletics partnership".

That helmet design would look good if it was about to be planted in your solar plexus, but any farther than a few feet away no one will be able to see what it is. Might as well be bird crap.

That was lame effort SR. Besides, Peevey's breaking news was way more funny.

Really like the texture here. #betterinleather

I personally found most of Nike's uniforms downright awful. They destroyed the look of the Seahawks and Buccaneers. Oregon's atrocious look speaks for themselves. UM's unis are among the rare Nike unis that actually look pretty decent.

Completely disagree with this comment but I do understand it's personal opinion/preference. The revamped Seahawk uni's are 10 times better than any look they've ever had and one of the best in the NFL. Tampa's uni's are and always have been hideous, tough to make that trainwreck combo look good! While certainly not a fan of the Oregon program, most of those combos are pretty creative and cool looking and from what I've heard, really are a factor in recruiting kids to that school.

Oregon's uniforms were the worst when they revamped them in the early 2000's...now they're some of the best. Seahawks uniforms are way better than the last generation.

Let's hope we don't get the color rush uniforms. The crayon game and the ketchup vs. relish NFL games were gross.
