Funny thing about most egrlz trolls of late. After wreaking havoc in a bunch of threads, it seems like they’re eventually exposed in some way or another. You all know them from elsewhere: the major college athlete who never really was, the war vet who actually hid in Canada, the barroom brawler who actually slunk out the back door, the longtime fan who never attended UM (lots of those on the football threads).
And you can always tell by their posts... packed full of diatribes supposedly cloaked in the language of experience, logic & wisdom (“im right. I always am right. You are just too dumb to recognize it.”)
It never takes long to see they’re so full of it.
So, why do all you long-term true GRIZ fans -- who post here because you love the sport & love the Griz -- pay them any credence?
Truth is, Griz sports has always been and always will be small school, and until Montana is invited as the newest member of the Mountain West Conference in all sports... well, we’ll just have to be very happy to celebrate winning the Big Sky and getting an occasional CHANCE to play against schools like Syracuse & Wisconsin, schools decidedly NOT WAC/Mountain West caliber teams like Utah State & Nevada... the two schools Montana beat in the dance.
Truth also: Wayne Tinkle’s Griz are already in the record books as one of the two best-ever Montana basketball teams. Those of us who really watched both teams AND the other good Griz teams who didn’t quite measure up, know it. The rest of you need to quit pretending there was some “Golden Era” of Montana basketball where the teams were all capable of competing on a national scale. Never happened.
But this year’s team just capped a remarkable four-year run as the best in Montana history. And here’s the huge reality of it: if these coaches stick around (big if, I know) they’ll build Montana into a true mid-major contender. Here’s hoping Mr. Tinkle & his assistants DO just that.
Full disclosure: I was never a college-level athlete, I am a wimp & not a barroom brawler; but, I do have two degrees from UM and I am a Vietnam era vet.[/quote
Well done. :thumb:
I also never played div 1 ball. JC ball was as far as I got, and that was thanks to players getting kicked off the team, and them needing bodies just to practice. Can't complain, it got 1.5 years of school paid for.
Desert Storm vet here.
