It's what the bsc does, BLGF.

And UT, I believe you missed the point. The bsc isn't a shitty conference because it's relatively strong vis a vis other FCS conferences. It's a shitty conference because it consistently makes shitty management decisions, the vast majority of which benefit the lowest common denominators in the conference, and not the teams that SHOULD benefit (e.g. those that produce revenue, and provide championships and prestige to the league).

You ever see the SEC take any actions that directly benefit Vanderbuilt at the expense of Alabama?
Very well expressed. A good example; NDSU and SDSU were not offered memberships, circa 2004, over strong (presumably geographic) objections and lobbying from SacSt and PSU, themselves recent additions and part of the grand Fullerton plan to urbanize the BSC. Forget what the charter members wanted to do. Instead he brought in UNC, the gem of the Denver area. When that plan had clearly failed, and he had fear of the Montana schools leaving, he then brought in what was left over of the Great West conf. USD threw him a curveball and bolted to the MVFC, leaving UND on an island and Fullerton with egg on his face. The BSC has a hill to climb to overcome the Fullerton era.

One of the probable reasons Montana does not try to flex its muscles more in BSC decisions is that the critical one remains in their favor and they do not want it to rise to discussion. Beyond the tiny TV stream, there is no revenue sharing in the BSC. If that were ever to happen you would see the wheels start to turn at both Montana and MSU.

The BSC would never consider revenue sharing to be on the table...the minute they go there and both Montana schools are gone, essentially leaving the BSC with a really good D2 conference.

How is the gate revenue from BSC football games allocated? 50/50 home team and away team?

There is no split, is there? Home school keeps its money. But don't know for sure.

Correct; the home team keeps all gametime revenue for the 8 BSC games. Home games are paydays; road trips are expense outlays, 4 of each. This is a decided advantage to the MT schools. They draw well and get four free visitors each year. Low revenue programs inevitably lobby the membership for revenue sharing, in which case the advantaged revenue streams for UM and MSU would be shared. So far, it has only been successful for the tiny TV revenue. If it were ever gain traction for game receipts, it would be the tipping point for UM and MSU membership.

The idea under consideration for 9 conf. games causes a bit of a budgeting complication with 5 paydays and four expense outlays one year, then 4 paydays and 5 expense outlays the next. Never mind the W/L record risk on the years of 5 road conf. games.

Almost a done deal. UND to the Summit. MVFC move should be finalized tomorrow.

One thing I don't like is that they think they can be an affiliate member for two years. If they are leaving then they can be FCS independents in my opinion. No one wants to be mandatorily scheduled for an away game to Grand Forks if they don't have to.

Well, I for one have really enjoyed watching Big Sky competition. Hopefully UND and MT can schedule some non-conference matchups in the future.

I say if they're leaving, they shouldn't be an affiliate.

This makes complete sense. Surely cuts down costs and allow fans to have some type of emotion against teams in conference. Can you imagine how excited UND fans would get to play UC Davis at home? Oh wait... [emoji52][emoji52][emoji52] (no offense to UC Davis but that game on the schedule doessssnt quite do it for me).

Why? What is so bad about being in the big sky? I don't get that

Well, let's start with basketball. Would you rather play in the Summit (with an RPI of 17), or the bsc (with an RPI of 29, fourth worst in America)?

Well after you guys got swept by PSU and Sac, I figured you'd want the lowest rated conference you can find.

Too bad we could beat just about anyone in the Summit League

Welllll.....

But even if we could, would you rather be in a legit conference with a chance at a decent seed (and maybe even the occasional season where you don't have to win the conf tournament to dance) or play in the bsc and look forward to that 89-54 pasting by the 2 seed?

One of the better current teams leaving. Not good for the conference. Forge the two affiliate years. Kick em out in the cold for two years let em be independent.

I once dumped a girl for a new one. I told the first girl I would still like to be affiliated with her for benefits but she did not like that idea for some reason

Well, at least that keeps us at that nice Fullerton-inspired number of 13, which we love so much. Unless Idaho comes across a better deal along the way.... UND in the BSC never made any sense for the BSC nor for UND once they have the MVFC option. Now they can get their miles going to Youngstown instead of SLO and Flagstaff.

I do find 13 to be a silly number of teams, preferably we should try to lose or add one and break it up into a division format for football. Losing a team might not be so far-fetched either, wasn't it just recently Portland State was having Financial issues with their football program?
