Good for you Brint. Not exactly your prototypical real estate agent or developer, I thought they were all aligned with the republicans and the chamber of commerce. Most of us Montana Democrats either came from a long line of miners or pheasant type farmers. Both are a dying breed and quickly being swallowed up by these blowhard, transplant, republican drug store cowboy types.

Ha, ok thanks.

My point being that this petition in opposition of him is not a GOP-style attack as it has been eluded to.

And yeah I'm definitely in the minority in my profession, but I do have more independent views on property rights law because a lot of that affects home affordability.

I'm just kidding ya, you are obviously and independent thinker.

Also, it has been said, but not publicly that PW strong armed a new President with little gonads into firing O'day and Pflugrad. I heard this from the horse's mouth. O'day is just not going public about it. He's too nice of a guy.

I heard it straight out from someone fairly credible...a well-connected former state legislator with whom I shared the breakfast counter at Gamer's in Butte last May... :!:

Lets get more than the fact Mr Wahlberg is a dem out of this Pat Williams mess.

Pat Williams is a slick talking liar. Requires attention.
O'Day is a class guy. Tells it like it is.
Folly got some payback yesterday.
Democrats are backing a doped horse.
Republicans are on the outside looking in.
U of M did not recruit thugs for its football team.
Carol Williams is a left wing (extreme) fem.
The Griz football team will excell because of Williams dumb remarks.
A big thanks to B Wahlberg even though he is a democrat!

Win lose or draw on this issue, we all remain Griz fans!

Since there are more republicans than democrats on the committee what's wrong with letting the republicans do some good here by getting rid of PW. If that's what it takes, who cares?

No one is stopping them, if that's the case. :thumb: Our position always has been, and will be - this isn't a political attack on Williams. We're not interested in partisan gamesmanship here. We're basing our argument on principle here. We take exception to his words and we do not believe he should be approved to the board of regents.

I am a republican and I have done everything I can do fight his confirmation! It is not a democrat or republican issue. It is pure slander to a team of young men trying to be the best they can be and PW needs to just go away!

This.

In my opinion, it's moved beyond that to the point that he's had his much publicized comments about Grizzly football but another senator brought up concerns about another comment he made about the State and Universities being flush with cash. He's shown recently a trend of making statements that are either incorrect or taken out of context. This is not the type of action and style of communication I would expect out of a regent.

I agree. It’s at that point in the process where it will require the Republicans in the Senate to step up. There are many issues with Pat Williams being a regent ... and yes, they go far beyond his comments.

I agree attacking the press was a bad idea, but you gotta admit this is pretty damn funny from Missoulian reporter Martin Kidston:
Martin J. Kidston ‏@martinkidston 15h

Foley digs Missoulian’s “third rate reporters” after saying "enough is enough on name calling"…

I don't agree. They pounced on that because they had nothing else.

Saying a reporter is "third-rate" is just what it says: a rating. It's a rating of their work in their profession. And to me its partially accurate. Saying "third-rate reporting" would've been smarter, but the fact remains: he labeled students as thugs--THAT is name-calling. Saying a reporter is third-rate is an assessment of professional aptitude. :twocents:

Great job Brint! Your efforts are above and beyond the call of duty.

By the way while I am an Independent and refuse to follow a party line, I vote Democrat more then Republican, especially lately since extremists have taken over the Republican Party, but I too am strongly against Pat Williams appointment to the Board of Regents. I have emailed Committee members accordingly. This is not a political issue, it is an issue based on Pat Williams poor choice of words slandering UM students, his poor judgement and his arrogance.

However, like so many matters involving our political system I admit that I am not confident on the outcome on this.

So let me get this right. You oppose PW for Regent but would vote for him for Senator.

Well...As in all elections, I guess that would depend on who he's running against. As for his appointment to the BOR- He doesn't belong- period.

Just pointing out hypocrisy. If he doesn’t belong as a regent, he doesn’t belong or shouldn’t have been a senator. He is still the same man.

Just pointing out a fact. He never was nor will he ever be a Senator; he was a Representative; but why quibble over accuracy.
