Mountain West looking to add three teams

What’s wrong with Ogden? It seems like one of the better destinations in the conference and has great views from the stadium.
You're right, views are great but later in the season I'd prefer a few of the warmer MW locations like ABQ, LV, and if my wallet could afford it and I was retired HI. Heck, Reno is a good spot as well especially with Vegas and Reno subsidizing many flights to get you in to gamble. Flagstaff is my favorite place for a Griz away game.

Montana is never moving up! The numbers didn't make sense the last time the school explored the financials and the make less sense now that the application fee in $ 5 million. Montana needs to have 16 scholarship sports, at least 6 mens and at least 8 women's. They current have 13. Additionally, the have to put $ 6 million toward at least 210 scholar athletes. So $5 million, 3 more sports, and a lot more scholarship money.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the Griz in the MW. They'd be competitive and it would be a blast to travel to a few of the away games. God knows Greeley, Ogden, and Pocatello are not destination picks.
I think you either move to catch on with the G6 or fall to D2. Not sure the in-between will exist.

If the financials work, UM would move up in a second with an opportunity. I am afraid not being proactive will leave them holding an empty bag if the G6 get kicked to the curb by the P4 and they form their own playoff and revenue sharing model.
A lot of these people are oblivious to what is going on in college football and to what is going to happen in the next few years.
You sir, are NOT one of them. My personal feeling is that even if they stay put for the time being once the realignment happens they will have no choice but to roll up into the G6 or whatever that morphs into.

There is no longer a stadium requirement in the FBS, it was eliminated after 2023. It use to be 30K up until 2004 but then moved to 15K paid attendance but now it no longer a quantified requirement.

Thanks. I was aware they dropped the attendance requirement. It was a farce as they never actually enforced it anyway. The NCAA will selectively enforce some crap and ignore other crap. It is good to be king.

To roll up or to roll down, that is the question.

Yep. 27k people would rather watch the Griz play against Northern Colorado, Central Washington, Portland State, Utah Tech, St Thomas-Minnesota, Indiana State.

If Montana moved up and was playing games against Wyoming, Oregon State, Utah State, Washington State, App State, Colorado State, James Madison, Delaware, etc... Nobody would ever want to watch those teams come play in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Absolutely no way... We'd 100% see attendance fall because the fans would rather see us compete against teams with 5k fans in stadiums that have a track surrounding the field, or use gimmicky red turf to try to be more relevant, or try to entice people to attend their games by providing pregame/postgame concerts of artists nobody has heard of.

Get ready for a consistent game attendance of 10k fans in Washington-Grizzly Stadium if we move up and play against programs who have fanbases that actually give a damn.

🙄
Well, the U would never have to worry about expanding Wa/Griz again. So there's that.

Montana can’t even find the money for lights and a locker room for the soccer field. They may lose one of the best coaches west of the Mississippi because of it but millions will appear if they move up? 🤷‍♂️. Maybe

This is not a factor? When he was on the GFP he specifically mentioned that they were hoping to get money for lights and better infrastructure so as to not lose recruits (which they were).
My point, they were going to lose him to this type of opening independent from the issues you note. He isn't leaving based on those issues.

Gotcha. I would hope, if Montana invested in the program, it could compete with those schools for top talent as Coach Chris has put the program on the map.
