What is the upside to moving up? The last thing a fan base wants is to end up stuck in a situation where a championship isn't a reality. I'm not sure Griz football would have the same passion around it if they are gearing up for a Idaho Potato Bowl with a 6-6 record. Now if there is a split by the P4 and a realignment occurs then I think it makes sense to be open to change. James Madison and Boise State are best case scenarios of a move up to FBS and they aren't really championship contenders in reality. The odds say we are much more likely to end up as a middling football program. I also think that part of what makes UM-MSU football so fun is all the in-state recruits. I don't know that you have 30 some odd MT kids on your roster if you move up. A lot could be lost.
