This football program is out of control. It is now time to stop the ridiculous defending of these kids, these coaches, Jim O'Day, and the football machine, and begin holding these players responsible for their actions, as well as holding the coaches and athletic director responsible for not reporting incidents, taking no action against players who commit these crimes, and paying tax-payer money at the rate of $150/hour for two months to try to get a handle on this situation for the purpose of softening the blow to the program.
We are talking about 65-90 young student-athletes, who seem to be unable to go a month without a major criminal incident splattered all over the newspapers, and even all the way to ESPN and the national sports media. If one takes a random sampling of 65-90 other male UM students, there is no way that this sub-group is guilty of the number and frequency of crimes that surrounds our football team. Stop spinning these indiscretions because you are a fan. Playa Rape is absolutely an embarrassment to our athletic program and fan base. Yet, so many of you support his sickening explanations, passing the blame to over-zealous police, media with an agenda to bring the program down, or celebrating reduced or dropped charges as some sicko sort of vindication. It is time to become a classy fan and be vocal about your refusal to support the coaches and administration who allow this stuff to go on, without consequence to the players committing these acts.
Do you think that UM would hire an investigator at $150/hour for a regular student jailed for rape? I think we all know the answer to that one. Then why should we condone it for an athlete? What is the program trying to hide? Ohio State did the same thing trying to figure out how to soften the blow to their program during the Tressel mess. I think this is the tip of the ice-berg within this athletic program. I think these investigations will uncover an on-going practice of cover-up by the UM athletic department. If so, heads need to role.
You all need to ask yourself this question....... is it worth being a die-hard UM football fan to compromise your integrity by supporting what this football program has become, all to continue the gravy-train of winning and keeping the cash register singing? I have said it before, and will say it again. This fan would rather lose games playing with quality athletes, than win with thugs. Period!
