I truly believe that the whole issue of crime is more of a issue of culture rather than race. In America our inner city culture promotes violence more specifically hip hop culture as a popular culture. Some cultures are more virtuous then others and that is a fact as an example I offer you cultures that engage in cannibalism. Rural cultures such as ours have always had less crime. Not all cultures are created equal.

But how can an institution and/or program, or any governing institution for that matter, be completely held accountable for a "lack of Institutional control" when "moral quality of the will is a self acquired phenomenon?"

It's been a hallmark for at least western culture for over 2,400 years that "knowledge is relative to being and that being knows it." The impetus for citing "civil liberties."

No he didn't. He worded it horribly but I know the sentiment he is trying to get across. Good people do not rape girls. That's obvious. But I personally know people who have been wrongly accused of sexual assault. I am not saying Donaldson is guilty or innocent but he may have the type of personality that makes it hard to believe for those close to him

Ummm. I seem to remember the Kitties having their own problems in the past. I would not be living in a glass house throwing stones. If Donaldson did rape this girl/girls - then he should go to jail and I believe the legal system will determine his guilt or innocence. If other players are involved then due process will take it's course and they will also go to jail. College kids are stupid at times and that applies to all campuses. The truly unfortunate scenario is how many date rape cases go unreported - regardless of whether it is a football player or non athlete. Nationwide we have a problem and incidents like these will hopefully be used to educate kids about respect for females. I perceive you as a crying kitten fan who is angry that his overrated and underperforming team gets a major beat down year after year by the Griz. Your program has not done a damn thing since Duran Duran sang your fight song in the 80's and until you actually have a program that can make it to the NC - you should simply slink back to your hole and lick your wounds. You might even offer to help with recruiting since your team is obviously not getting it done!

What's with the "can get caught up with" part of your carefully worded sentence? You seem to want to soften up raping someone. You're coming across as really saying if Donaldson is found to have committed rape, his responsibility is less because he was influenced by others somehow......like, hey the dude just got caught up in it.

If true, this is terrible for all involved (victim obviously, families, Beau, Griz community, etc). There is no excuse for this, period. The court process will hopefully take care of this appropriately.

On the other hand, the coaching staff, athletic department, and administration needs to get this stuff figured out. I'm sure that none of the recruiters could've foretold any of these legal issues when they recruited a kid....but something has got to be done soon to avoid this stuff from happening once the kids get here. Too much bad publicity from athletes in the Griz community. As a UM grad, I'm ashamed. Each time stuff like this happens, it gets harder to whole-heartedly recommend UM for my family's or friends' kids to attend. I will always recommend, but it gets more difficult to do it without some reservations.

And if Beau did this, I hope he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
