More Departures?

I'm really only concerned with how this affects our fantasy record in 2012. Certainly it means we could have won 3 to 4 more games...

i think it means that ssh started all the games now (then). i'm guessing we would have lost a couple more, making the jj comparison even sweeter. we better get clarification from greenie about this, though.

Not the end of it, I'm hearing.

Seriously, what in the hell is going on? People can continue to make excuses about how this is all normal, but something is definitely amiss.

Injuries, grades, family, etc. This has been going on for years. I applaud the student-athletes for the time they put in for the Griz. It is not rare for student-athletes to reevaluate how much time they invest in practice and training compared to playing-time, and occasionally conclude "I am done."

If MickyD is "cleaning house" to make room for a "serious playoff" run as you suggest, these moves do not make sense. Why in the hell is he keeping the butte boys that will never see the field and who have changed positions like 10 times already? Harper and Hagfors were clearly above them on the depth chart.
I'm sure MickyD will say they "chose" to leave for personal reasons. That excuse might work once or maybe even twice but then it starts to get very fishy.

I, for one, do not know or care where they are from. I noticed the star Montana performers, noted where they were from, and they are in the NFL now. IF MD is keeping Butte players because they are Butte players, as MD is from Butte, it is just more proof that he is worthless. For him to "clean house" for his type of players is assinine. MD is supposed to be the place holder for the next REAL HC. I've howled many times about the stupidity of keeping him on for a third year. Many agree, many disagree, but I've noted many of the disagreers are from Butte. Coincidence? On the objective side, if you know any of the players that have left, ask them WHY! That would kill needless speculation. Of course, that would put this site to sleep for a few months. Hybernation for Grizzlies is a natural thing, right?

I think, for many fans of UM, thanks to the decades long success on the field, that it is really easy to forget the REAL purpose of a university. I would assume the percent of drop outs on the football field are close or less than the percentage of student who enter UM and never finish. That is the same everywhere. Things change a lot when you are young. That's life..

Are the Butte Boys on Schollie? Did they make their grades after the team had a very close call on APR? Did they decide to stick around and fight for their position and play time anyway?

For people to say that MD is keeping players because they're from Butte is about the funniest things ive heard on here in a longtime..

when engstrom met with everyone to say he wasn't going to pursue getting the penalties lessened mick said this year would be the least effected by the reductions, so that supports what tnt is saying about gearing up for a playoff run.

the big issue with these guys leaving is depth. there are only nine linemen that aren't freshman and five of those are sophs. wilson doesn't have a dependable backup at fullback. tight end has no experience. other than quarterback, def. line and running back we aren't very deep anywhere, but those positions (rb and qb) are prone to injury.

Several players who have departed the team over the last three years, have told me, there are a lot things that go on behind the public eye. A lot of promises made by coach and never kept.

I do not believe the moral of this team is very high. I can't say for certain, it is only my opinion.

I'm not trying to say MickyD is keeping the butte kids b/c they're from Butte. Someone else implied that. I simply used the butte kids as an example to show that tnt's theory that MickyD is "cleaning house" to make room for a "serious playoff" run, doesn't make much sense to me. If that were the case, you'd think he start at the bottom of the depth chart.

I don't know why anyone left but I can say that I liked the way Hagfors runs and I believe there will be times he will be missed in the coming year.

Maybe MD is making room for that Super Star QB playing at that South Dak JC? You know, the guy that got offered a full ride at UW but turned it down.

You would think if they were at the bottom of the depth chart they wouldn't be using scholarship dollars that would be better used for players who would be at the top of the depth chart. None the less some of these kids were recruited for schemes that aren't being run and aren't shifting well. or as I said to begin with they are leaving for reasons other than football.

:shocker:

Tm left because he's not committed? Don't think so. He changed positions. There is definitely one big old problem
