Montana receives commit from San Clamente (CA) LB

PR, I forgot whom I was talking too. I do realize that you probably spent some time sleeping on the top bunk at the Timmer's house over Christmas. Sorry I ever doubted you, and your specifics of the English language.

PR, I do know that Ty is doing everything he can to get healthy and get back. But I also know that he is still having difficulties with the knee to the point that he is nowhere close. I understand that he could be back down the road, but as of right now, I would consider it a longshot.

What you just said is not the same as saying he has a "very longshot" of getting back.

He was practicing at the end of the season and doing many drills. I don't believe that is consistent with "nowhere close".

My information comes directly from him. I talked to him about this in person several weeks ago. I have known Timmer his entire life. I have also talked to his family about this subject. Think what you want, but your initial post on the subject was not accurate. Like I said, he may not get back, but he has made progress and has more than a longshot chance.

I, I, I, I, I,............

IMO Timmer is headed on the same tracks as Roberts. This is a bummer, hopefully we get to see him play meaningful football one day, but I don't think that is going to happen. Here's to some crazy good knee recovery! :thumb:

I have known alot of players and families over the years, but none better than Ty and his family. Players and their families get a kick out of all the incorrect and stupid things said by some of the idiots on the board, like some of you posting in this thread.

I'm trying to figure out why a San Clemente player who is 6'1", 200 lbs, and runs a 10.71 100m is not being recruited by a Boise State, let alone Pac-12 schools.

He seems exactly like the type of kid that Boise thrives on from CA. Hope this soft commit sticks, but I'm a bit bewildered why only EWU, UM, and Sac are offering him. It would be almost impossible for him to be missed by all of the FBS schools on the west coast, considering how he has two high-profile teammates, one of which is in the ESPN Top 150. Kyle Murphy is literally the best O-line prospect on the west coast, yet nobody has even offered Gamboa?

At this point, I'm convinced that you're delusional. Do the Timmers also laugh about the guy who thinks he is their close friend bragging about it on a message board?

Seek help.

The highlight film in this string looks like Gamboa's junior... If you have access to hudl.com, check out some of his senior year highlights. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/504907/herbert-gamboa#.TtUI8BINa-4.facebook" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Great hudl video, Hey Edward, do you know if Gamboa was recruited as a LB or RB???

He's being looked at as a LB, but I hope he ends up at SS. At San Clemente they had him dropping back in coverage a lot... and he still lead the team in sacks and tackles (at outside LB)!
The boy is freaky - ran. 4.3875, 40" vertical, 3.94 20 yd shuttle, and a 10'1" broad jump at a combine this year.

This kid is a stud. I love the disipline of the whole team on the hudl highlight. Great nose for the ball. Hope he winds up in maroon!

I agree with everything you posted... He just looks real good with the ball in his hands ALSO.

Great player and a great Griz get!

It looks like a good weather week to be in Missoula. Glad its not one of those gloomy or below zero weeks. Campus and stadium always look better to me in the sun.

I am elated as can be for Gamboa coming here, and hope he sticks with it.

Payton, or someone that knows Gamboa, can shed some light on his recruiting?

He is a STUD athlete, speed, versatility, size and speed of an NFL safety, with a frame that can support 240 to be a LB. Honestly, I don't see how any FCS program can land a player with this kind of "freakish" athleticism? What has been keeping the PAC 12 and MWC schools from him? I see the video, read the stats, and it is near impossible to find any holes in this kid's game. That video would get most any college fan base excited to have this kid.

Does he want to play for a national championship, truly on the field, with a playoff format? Did bigger programs get on him too late in the process? Granted, I am excited to see him as a GRIZ, but "Why, Montana?" Was this kid that much under the radar, in CA? I am sure Berquist had some insight, and helped in the process. Is our staff well connected to his coaches?

I really hope someone that follows HS football in that area will shed some light on how/why Gamboa got here? This inquiring mind wants to know.

He's received plenty of interest, but not serious interest. Washington, Utah State, Nevada, SLO, Sac St, and Boise State (they had him at one of their summer camps and immediately moved him SS) have been looking at him, but UM was the first to step up... That means a lot to him!!!
I don't know why he isn't being offered more scholarships, but someone is going to be very happy with him... To top things off, he's very coachable!
It seems every year someone slips through the recruiting cracks and years later, everyone wonders how... Hopfully that wll be Gamboa at UM!

Thanks for the info Edward. Are you by chance in CA? Welcome to egriz by the way.
