Slo, what do you know about Gamboa? Have you seen him play? Sure would like to see him skip that EWU trip.

Awesome... I was hoping we would hear this.

I'm telling you I could watch that highlight video over and over. This kid has blazing speed, great nose for the football, tackles well, can drop back into coverage, and even returns kickoffs for TDs!

Would it be strange to have a starting LB returning kicks and punts?

LA and SoCal tv have been showing the league title game from last month over and over...this guy is for real and if SC and UCLA, San Diego or the AZ schools are his secondary choices, it speaks volumes of the level of play UM has played for a generation......great talent here.....and it attracts more.....

I do not know a lot about him, I just came across the post looking for Cal Poly commits. I do know that San Clamente has a very good football program.
The entire league they are in were in Calif. top 30 high schools...San Clemente lost to Santa Margherita in the chipper but delaSalle in the north took the state title...these are not average teams....

Sounds like all the visits Gamboa is making is to but satisfy his mother's wishes, but it does sound pretty good so far:

Same article above cited mentions Jeremiah Kose coming out of hs with interest from New Mexico St., Hawaii, Colorado St., and a visit to San Jose St.

I just have to wonder what Im missing. He is fairly small and I wonder if hes not coming to play safety.

Not all that small; Matt Steinau was 6'1" & 220 lbs as a Senior and he did pretty well.

San Clemente has a QB, Travis Wilson, 6'6" 215 lbs., going to Utah.

:? :?: What exactly would the uofm coaches show this.kid order to persuade him to come to Griz Nation? Maybe they can show him a video of uni game and take him to the field and blast some crowd sounds to mimic game time atmosphere; that would definitely get his attention. Wouldn't it? :thumb:

Seems to me that Cole Bergquist would be a good reference for the Griz. :-D
Cole's parents (great people) still live in the area and would also put in a good word. They still come fly in to an occasional Griz game and Cole is long gone.

Kid looks fast and good. He will def put on some weight through UM lifting program. Look forward to seeing him on ST and backing up our outstanding and PROVEN juniors for the next two years then getting his chance.

Just watched the video. Two words:

1. Holy

2. Shit!!

Precisely. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I was thinking the exact same thing! What a player. Now does this constitute the Texas speed???

Those are some very nice highlights. If the QB stays in the pocket, Gamboa gets to him in 2 seconds. If the QB rolls out, Gamboa gets to him in 3 seconds. You're not going to find an athlete heavier than Gamboa in FCS with those kind of quicks.
So, why didn't we get Gamboa in here for a playoff game, which would have seemed ideal? He mentions in the Missoulian that San Clemente was playing for a championship this fall. Did their playoffs run so late he couldn't visit?

Regardless, welcome to Griz Nation Mr. Gamboa. You are about to embark on one of the truly unique experiences in DI college football. You'll play for true championships in what Sports Illustrated calls one of the 25 best football settings in all of college football. You'll have an opportunity to turn pro if you have what it takes. There's a former NFL talent scout on the team who will surely give you an idea where you stand, what you'll need to do etc. You will have an opportunity to play in one of the most dynamic zone blitz defensive schemes at this level, one that is sure to showcase your talents.

Study hard and get here soon.

Kose said Montana was the first and only team to recruit him at Palomar, and that he knew about the Griz beforehand: For one thing, Palomar defensive coordinator J.G. Aegerter was the linebackers' coach for Montana State when the Bobcats won the 1984 Division I Football Championship.

"He's not fond of the Grizzlies," Kose said. "But I heard a lot of good things."

Good for Aegerter. Now we've got former Bobcats recruiting for the Griz. 8-) 8-) 8-)

I could be wrong, but it might have been during the recruiting dead period.

It wasn't. The Griz had 15 or 20 kids visit during the UNI game
