. . . .if they are young coaches I would look for pedigree...what program they
have been attached too..do they know how to win....Vigen was from North Dokota so he knew what
a winning program look like and worked with other successful coaching staffs..and he's somewhat
young....good move by MSU...he will be coaching FBS in the future..

Age is relative. Hauck coached at UCLA, Colorado, and Washington; Pease coached at Baylor, Kentucky, Boise State, Florida, and Washington; Bradford coached in the NFL and at California, Memphis, Louisiana Tech, and USC. What in the hell do you want?
This is a little concerning with Pease..."In the first 3 games of the 2017 season, UTEP's offense ranked 128th out of 129 teams in the FBS in total offense, 124th in scoring offense, 129th in rushing offense and 129th in first downs per game.[7] On September 17, 2017, Pease was fired after an 0-3 start to the season." Then we hired him...lol

To be entirely fair to Pease, after they fired him they still went winless for the year. The 16 points his offense put up in his final games was more than they scored in all but two games the rest of the year. Their points scored in their next games were 14, 21, 14, 0, 14, 3, 10, 21, and 7.

I would hesitate to say that Pease was at fault when nothing got better with anyone else in the job. UTEP was a dumpster fire that year.

And before the inevitable "Well, then it is his fault for not recruiting better players" argument is made, Pease got there just the year before, so he had next to nothing to do with recruiting any of those kids.

I would take any, single position coach from an elite FCS team over any single coach at UTEP.

So would any coach used to winning.

BH didn't see it that way...so Griz offense will be exactly what it is.

"Fishing with the band"...if that isn't a song, it should be.

UTEP beat Incarnate Word this year. Position coaches in FCS make so little that they could qualify for food stamps in some places. Look how many ex Griz asssistant coaches went into occupations outside of coaching within a couple years. Most would jump to an FBS school in a heartbeat because they make way more. Look at Joe Glenn, Mick Dennehy, Bobby etc.. they didn't leave UM because Utah St, UNLV and Wyoming weren't dream jobs they left because of money. And their assistants could make a living. All were successful FCS coaches and ended up getting canned at FBS schools. It is a hell of challenge to turn some these programs that don't have much tradition. The fishing stuff is back? I think you need to watch A River Runs Through It Again and the question should be if you live in Missoula and don't fish..why?

I know. A lot was because of how polluted the Blackfoot was then. They did an amazing job cleaning it up though. I was saying that tongue in cheek because Soldier has a thing about Griz coaches fishing. It is one of his common themes.

Agreed, but he sure went down hill in a hurry from Florida back to Montana

I don't have themes. I post facts.

 UTEP SHOULD beat UIW. You think there's credit due there?

Has zero to do with busting through the FCS bracket to Frisco.

BSC coaches who have a much, much better chance than BH and the boys have roots in elite FCS programs...

That's just a fact.

apparently that is what a lot of people have been saying all along. might be the issue we apparently are having at quarterback right now for the record he is listed as the OC and qb coach.

Oops. Mixed him up with Rosie.

It’s the first thing on egriz you’ve ever been right on. Beat your cheat. What a tool.

Now, now, let's not beat up on Soldier. He's been on TDY a long time. Back in my working days, I spent a long time away from Montana. The longer and farther away, the more Montanan I got. When I drove back and saw the 'Welcome To Montana' sign, I was jacked! The opposite when I left. He does post facts, as he sees them. We all do. Interpreting those facts is up to the receiver.
As for Pease, let us charge him, try him, then execute him. The eGriz way is charge, execute, THEN trial. I'm reading a good book on the Montana Vigilantes( huh, ME, go figure  ) entitled, 'A Decent Orderly Lynching,' by Frederick Allen. He could be one of our eGriz posters. 8-)

dude...what the hell do you want because what we have now is not working bar a miracle...I said it was my
opinion what l look for in another coach...just because they been with other programs doesn't make them
connect with young players of today...totally missing the point!

Yep NFL, SEC, PAC 12, Mountain West coaches are far inferior. Lol.

Actually, it's only the 3d time I've ever been wrong

The best coach in NFL is Andy Reed and it isn't even close to number 2. The best coach in FBS is Nick Saban. I think Bobby and his crew have their backs against the wall for sure. But the Griz hiring and firing guys on a regular basis make the possibility of the Griz becoming Nebraska of FCS . It becomes an unattractive job. I don't think people realize how low the pay is for coaching staff in comparison to other programs. Where did Hauck say he doesn't want superstars? Where do you find these magical innovative young coaches you speak of? Remember the last "innovative" guy at UM? The idea that these guys can't coach I think is wrong and very simplistic in my opinion. Do I think they should bring in more young coaches? yes. But do you want a whole staff of unproven guys that don't realize the expectations of coaching here? Just about anywhere else in FCS if you were 4-1 the supporters would be happy. Here there are people calling for your head mid season. You going to put that on some 32 year old "whiz kid?" Would he bring his family to Missoula? You can bring in innovation but you better also bring in someone thick skinned that beats the Cats right away or their ass in the same boat as this staff right away.

The Griz staff isn't old. The d-line coach is young. Erickson is young. Justin Green isn't very old. Cooper isn't that old. MSU '04. So, early 40s. Some guys are in their early 50's. I think Pease is the oldest, and he isn't a coach. Tim H. graduated about 1990. Maybe the same for the corner's coach. This is post is not directed to the above post.

Translation: *chuckles under breath* Our offensive coordinator isn’t a coach, he’s a COORDINATOR, you incompetent little insignificant swine. These guys are half my age and more than twice the players age, so they’re not that old. The players are 1/4 my age and they still come party at my lake house. I’m like Hugh Hefner of Griz Football (without all the weird stuff *serious note*). That means I’m not that old, I know exactly what recruits the younger generation of football players.
