Oh, we all believe you, alpha. You certainly don't have a credibility gap .....

I have no issue giving money for specific cause...however, I want to know that every penny I contribute goes directly to the new weight/locker rooms. I already give enough to academics!
Alpha, what you got going on with donations for this cause on Maroon Blood? Hell, if it is up and running, all personnel can come there and donate....

Does anyone have photos of the locker room's current state? If we're going to get anyone on board pictures would help.

Yes there are some on the other thread dealing with locker rooms on this site. It led to action for me it was so bad. Gonna start a monthly donation. Won't be able to do a ton but it all helps and it all adds up.

Montana $5,896,289
Montana State $5,044,725
Portland State $3,832,289
UC Davis $3,566,555
Eastern Washington $3,444,305
Sacramento State $3,299,190
Northern Arizona $3,267,428
Idaho State $3,261,187
North Dakota $3,181,952
Cal Poly $3,066,342
Northern Colorado $2,965,650
Weber State $2,675,532
Southern Utah $2,333,902
I realize this is the operating budget and not the capital budget.
Given this budget is the poor weight room a priority issue?

The UM Foundation has, or will, announce a new capital fund drive. A new locker/weight room facility for the athletic department is included. As with any contribution to the Foundation, your pledge can be in any amount, over any period of time--and can be targeted specifically for a particular department, scholarship, project, etc. That's the good news. These campaigns usually run up to five years; can be extended, and items can be eliminated if the goal isn't reached. If you are interested the Foundation office can provide you with additional information. However before you write a check, it would be appropriate to ask Where it would be built...If drawings are available to view...What is the price tag...Whether the locker/weight room could be built as soon as the money was raised without waiting for the entire campaign to conclude? If they can't answer those questions and give a "we have to raise the money before we can come up with any of those things", you will have an indication of how serious the current administration about upgrading the deplorable athletic facilities in the next ten years.

Had a long discussion with the wife this weekend about the subject of donating money for the upgrading of athletic facilities at UM. She made some very valid points about our money and how it would be spent. She pointed out that the leadership at UM is virtually non existent starting with the president and then compare them to what the leaders at South Dakota, Utah State, Montana State, North Dakota and North Dakota State have going on. The devil is in the details and after listening to her and a friend of ours its almost like UM could run itself without Mr. Engstrom and we would be on a comparable course. Both of them hit on the same points being made by many others on here about putting the lipstick on a pig and expecting excellent results. Our friend is the parent of a former all american OL and his comments echo that of the other player that posted on this subject a few weeks ago. The comment about not showing him facilities when on his visit and dangling the shiny stadium ring true according to the.

Every other program in the Big Sky is catching up to Montana because they are expanding stadiums, building locker rooms, academic centers and weight rooms. UM is slipping into the middle of the pack and it is in my opinion the result of bad hiring and poor leadership from the top down. There is no vision, no ideas and no plan in place to resolve these issues in the immediate future. It seems like the present objective is to woo possible recruits with a very small new building to just reapply the lipstick on the pig. If UM was really serious about improving facilities they would make a commitment to excellence and build an entire new building with a real academic center, parking, locker, weight and meeting rooms and attach it to the stadium there are many ways to achieve this and there is room if you are creative and put any amount of thought into it. Instead the current trend is to blow a wad of cash to build a 5000 sq ft building to fake us all into believing there is a commitment when the current leadership Pres, VP, AD and Asst AD etc. is failing miserably at doing there job. The university deserves better and so do the current athletes and future recruits in all sports. All the board loudmouths like to say "put your money where your mouth is" so we have made our decision to do just that. We are not going to be donating anything to the University of Montana until steps are made to improve the quality of hires and leadership. Until that happens there is going to be less and less of our resources going to our university. Come on trolls, lets rip your bag of insults open and fire away at a Griz family that has resources and chooses to be fiscally responsible instead of throwing our money away at yet another school or higher learning that has no clue how to run a business.

Good post until you decided to throw garbage at the end of it..

This is egriz, it won't be long before one of the trolls comes along and bashes me from one side or the other. Raider or AZgriz will be along shortly to correct me or alpha will tell me I am not a fan and then attack my family. Maybe Player will support me or maybe not who knows its all a joke anyway. Brint and player are the only guys that have information and their posts are good but the rest of you should think before you hit submit. It is why most readers don't post on here. Just wait a few minutes then I will be able to say I told you so.

FWIW, I think most of what you said was spot on. The next 2 years will be monumental for Engstrom and Haslam.

If UM created a fund that was transparent to the public and assured to go to locker room fundraising, then I believe more people would be interested. For now, it just looks like a black box.

I know one thing.......you guys at eGriz are about 5 months late to the party when it comes to raising money for the locker and weight rooms. There is now way you losers raise more money than we have at Maroonblood.......plus you are months behind.

Not a big surprise since this place just accepts mediocrity and second place.

Suck it

:coffee:

Most people on here have never donated to the game. ;)

But the thing is, there IS a vision. There IS a plan. There IS a committment.

New locker rooms and weight rooms are in the near-term plan. They are specificially mentioned in the UM 2020 Plan. I guess I don't understand why everyone thinks they're not on the board. Dislike Engstrom if you will, but at least after 20 years of neglect, he's taking steps to improve the internal facilities.

The problem isn't the plan. The problem is finding money to pay for it. If you have some suggestions on how to accomplish that, I'm sure the President's office would welcome your calll.

Raising money is not that hard if you have something to sell. I tried finding out more details on this matter and its like herding cats to get anyone that knows who to talk to or when you do get somebody they "will get back to me" because they are clueless. You are kidding yourself if you think it is hard to raise money for things like this if they are well thought out and presented with a plan, the money will fall into place just like it does at every other university.
