It seems like ages ago but I remember when this thread was about a football player...that game that this forum is reportedly about. ;) ;)

If memory serves me correctly all the threads used to be actually about the sport, players, team. coaches, etc. Now, hijacking a thread consists of actually covering those things. :thumb:

Nice try. Us News & World report is a liberal, almost far-left wing publication. It's ranking are all skewed towards the liberal institutions, such as the Ivy League schools. I am a business man, and former CEO of a multi-million dollar company. I currently sit on two boards. I attended a six-week business course at Wharton.

Business people of my caliber know which universities graduate the most business-ready individuals, which is why we hire from those universities. I would NEVER hire any graduate from Brown, or Columbia. But, UVA grads are among the most coveted hires, because of their well-rounded and PRACTICAL education, making them more ready to hit the ground running after being hired.

That's some funny shit right there.

Stevie, being a bus boy for lunches at a six week business course at Wharton......

Is just friggen amazing.........I can't believe you held the job so long......

True! It's almost as far left as that Marxist publication "The Wall Street Journal!"

So instead of accepting you've been beaten over the head by numerous people who have trotted out actual facts and cited them, Mr Pickles resorts to namecalling and referring to anything that doesn't support his case as "liberal media." Got it.

Yes you nailed it -- except instead of beaten, I would say "flagellated".

I'm just glad I read this thread, because I always assumed "self-flagellation" meant something totally different. And try as I might, it was an image I couldn't get out of my head.

Montana Tech

http://www.nbcrightnow.com/story/29173484/montana-tech-graduates-earn-top-dollar-early-career-salaries

Montana Tech graduates rank in the top ten nationally for being paid the highest early career salaries. They even beat out several top Ivy League schools from across the country.

According to payscale.com, Tech graduates make about $69,000 dollars in the beginning stages of their careers, showing companies don't necessarily look to the ivy leagues when hiring employees.

Montana Tech Chancellor Don Blackketter said, "Our programs our demanding and so the successful students have learned how to discipline their lives and do the work and I think that translates into great employees when they go to the workplace."

Several Ivy League schools such as Harvard, Yale and Columbia for example, didn't even place in the top 25, with beginning salaries barely hitting the $60,000 mark.

72% of degrees issued at Montana tech are stem field related which typically garner higher wages. 80% of Tech students come from Montana.

Yup, that's my daughter when she graduated from Tech in environmental engineering about10 years ago. And, now she's gone back to school, has a third degree, is a physician assistant, and is making more than she did as an engineer (or than her parents ever made, combined!).

Yes, for seven years, and expecting our first grandchild. Sorry. And, her husband's also an engineer, who makes more than she does. We just sit back in awe!

You are correct, but don't muddy the water for these academic mavens, graduating from such stellar institutions as Wyoming, and Western Montana. But they read U.S. News & world Report, so they are all experts on the best colleges in the nation. Williams College ranked #1. Who would have guessed? Sure glad we got that rag to set us straight. I won't waste my money on those shit-hole educations like Stanford and Duke any longer. Williams, here we come baby!!!!

i would never accept "facts" from individuals who know nothing about a topic. Reading a socialist rag does not qualify one as an expert on anything. Neither does a degree in calf-roping from Wyoming.

Anyone live in Kalispell? I'm thinking about applying for a job there and haven't lived in Montana since 1999. Was hoping for some inside info on the city.

I am not sure what kind of work you are looking for. It took me 6 months to get on full time with full benefits at a decent company and okay wage. It was a frustrating experience to say the least. Fortunately, I had saved money from my previous employers and my part time business helped in the transition. I am making a lot less than I was out of state, but very happy to be home.

If you are looking just to start work quickly, LC Staffing, Express Personnel, and Spherion are all great temp agencies. Also indeed.com is great for finding job leads. Also retailers are always hiring. For me, retail is not something I was looking for.

Either way, hope something works out.

Well this started as a smartazz post in this dumpster fire of a thread, but Appreciate the quick response. I'm a physician and there's some opportunity at the hospital. Don't know a lot about the healthcare there as far as perception in the community, but research shows that it looks good.

Yes, I would venture that care for health is perceived as a positive thing in the community.
