They're not all bad but it sure seems like the majority of their fanbase that are morons are online...

We're like mirrors. If you're a dick, you'll get a dick back. If you're cool, you'll get cool back. Weird how that works.
So what exactly did that beach ball do to be a dick to EWU fans in 2011?

What beach ball?

In 2011 when EWU came to town, the University did their "toss the beach ball" in the stands. When the ball got to the EWU visiting section, an EWU fan took the ball and sliced it open with a knife or something. Classy.

I was in the NEZ, so I'm not sure. Probably just that EWU fans don't like to play with balls as much as Griz fans do.

In this years Apps game Apps had a series in the first quarter deep in the NEZ and there was no way the crowd would let them make a first down. It was simply way too loud for them to do anything really. They had a couple false starts and a time out then punted. Is Apps a top level team? Not this year, but the noise was indescribable. Sitting high on the east side the noise flowed out of the NEZ like some sort of odd energy force.

After the 2009 Apps game one of the Apps lineman said "I know I shouldn't say this, but we couldn't hear a ****** thing". You can't really describe how loud that evening was.

Discount Wa-Griz at your own risk.

Even the Griz have to admit, you have to be excited to watch Adams play?

Absolutely, I'm looking forward to it.

Of course, I hope he leaves Missoula with a disappointing loss, just like Tony Romo did, but that's another matter.

This weekend as the Griz play the Eastern Washington Eagles we're going to try to break the previously recorded noise record at Washington Grizzly Stadium, which is 108.5 decibels.

What? I'm still hoarse from last weekend!

The noise level in WGS last weekend after the blocked FG was insane! Just watching from the stands you could see how confused and nervous Cal Poly was when they had to go into the NEZ.

When WGS gets as loud as it did on Saturday in OT, I don't care who you are... NO team on offense is going to be able to hear a damn thing, and that is insanely difficult to overcome. :thumb:

My bet is that Adams won't get rattled... he won't be "in awe" by the stadium or the noise. Im not saying the crowd won't play a part, there may be a couple false starts or something, but I've watched Adams enough, and he along with rest of the Eagles have been in enough BIG GAMES lately that they're not going to piss down their legs like most teams do when they come in there. McGhee and Adams are winners. They don't get nervous or scared... they just go in and play football.

I'd agree with that entirely. Playing @OSU, @Toledo, & @SHSU has this EWU team road-tested for sure.

And EWU failed the SHSU test.

An EWU fan brought a weapon to a football game? Shocker.

Excited to watch Adams play? I know he's a very good player, but I certainly wouldn't say I'm excited to see him play. I'm looking forward to seeing if the Griz can stop him, take him down a few times, and force him to make him make mistakes.

Wasn't a knife, just his sharp wit. I'm glad you weren't cut too badly. ;)

It's not just the team. The OC tries to talk to the guys on the field sending in the plays. If neither can hear, they don't even know they aren't communicating. Then think about the down linemen. They usually have the advantage of knowing the count and moving as soon as it is called. The defense has to wait and see the ball snapped before they get to T off. With enough noise both have the same problem, except the offensive lineman who thinks he sees the ball twitch just cost his team 5 yards.

Brint- Any idea when this supposed official announcement from the University is coming?? They better get on this ASAP if they hope to have a marked effect with the marketing of this thing. I truly hope you are right and they jump on this golden opportunity, but I would not be the least bit surprised if the athletic dept/admin drop the ball. The marketing of everything Griz/UM has been beyond lackluster lately.

As per noise it is usually not the singular noise event, or series of events...it is the constant noise that collectively wears on you

Guess that is why those who work in industry with constant noise wear ear protection

Noise alone will not make it happen but will make the wagriz "workplace" a tough environment for our guest workers

AlphaGriz1 will be in the north endzone and will measure the decibels and report it back here after the game.

Question for Alpha, or anyone with knowledge of how this works. Would the decibel reading be higher in the stands of the north endzone (where I presume Alpha will be) or down on the field where the noise is directed at?

Let's see if I can recall my grade school science class where we took an empty oatmeal box (yeah, it didn't always come in packets) and point it at a candle then tap the bottom showing the effect of the sound waves when they hit the flame. So I would surmise that direction could have an effect.

Of course, it could just be too damned loud to measure anywhere.

Down on the field "could" be optimal since the stadium more or less focuses and funnels sound directed in that direction. It would also depend on being in a spot that wasn't nulled out or dead. Frequencies can be very hard to deal with when you get reflections off concrete at different distances.

Not saying there couldn't be a spot in the stands as loud as on the field but if I had to bet money on it I would go with a centered spot on the goal line in the NEZ.
