There is nothing to refute. The guy always has to be right. Our defense this year is SOFT! Gregorak only knows how to run a cover 2 and a cover 4 defense. Once in a great while he'll blitz a LB but pretty much he just likes to have our D sit back and let them come to us. It should be the other way around. DB's are giving the wideouts 12-15 yards before the ball is even snapped.. No pressure defense what so ever. There is nothing wrong against bringing the house ever once in a while or blitz a corner from the edge. He is the exact same spitting image of Paulsen and it drives me nuts..
How many corner blitzes have you seen this year? Safety blitzes? Breske seems to have taken these pages from the playbook with him when he left. Those are easily established numbers that can be compared to last year. Gregorak is just not as aggressive as Breske was. Yes, circumstances and players have changed but for me it's simply a question of the coaches' philosophical perspectives. I miss the aggressive approach.
Fair enough, but is it really a good idea to blitz from the secondary when they can barely do their jobs as it is?
Obviously a gamble and not something you do a lot of. But do you remember Tru and Jimmy blitzing the last couple of years. Their speed gave the QB & receivers little time to develop a pass downfield which somewhat neutralized the speed factor of having LBs covering. Both were just ferocious hitters too, especially Jimmy. QBs wanted little to do with either of them after those hits.
