Gregorak is a terrific coach and a good d-coordinator. He's done a terrific job replacing most of the defense. Of the starters, all that returned were Tully and JP (who had replaced Tripp). There are only 2 senior defensive players. That's alot to replace. Trying to hold off offenses of teams that have gotten more turnovers than all but one team in FCS, is not easy. Also, coaches have to work with the players they have on the roster.

You must have been a Kraig Paulsen fan too. Tully and JP are not the only guys who played last year on defense.. Your missing quit a few guys like: Herm, Harris, Coyle, ect.. Gregorak like to fool you by is raw raw emotions which he hides behind.. He takes no chances what so ever, he brings little pressure, he makes no adjustments.. i can go on and on about it but i would just be wasting my time...

However I think for the most part you look at Wagenmann, Bienemann, Takai, Rehm, Coyle, Stuberg, & Tripp (so to say) as guys that shared snaps last year and they're working out pretty well. Then you look at Murray, Hermanson, Tully who shared some time and Harris and Goodwin who are new to playing as well as Dennard who has changed sides of the field and you've got a real mixed bag.

It should be pointed out that the TD to get EWU within 2 was well covered, we just had a short corner guarding a 6-5 WR who just went up over him and got the ball. Now coverage overall in that game was pretty bad, but that one play (and a few others in the 2nd half) give some hope as they did make some improvements.

i believe this is a fair evaluation of our four deep,,,at the end of e. washington game safties should always be deeper than the deepest and foul if necesaary (pass interference), in run support, work on breaking down and making the sure tackle...if we think about how much better we all were as a senior vs. a sophomore or even a junior, these guys will learn from these game situations and be pretty darn good imo...
the old saying appies here "good judgement comes from expierence and allot of that comes from bad judgement"...

I missed the entire 3rd quarter of the EWU game, but my understanding is we did EXACTLY that in third quarter and that's what was successful? :?

I not saying bring the house every play but once in a while like on 3rd down sneak it in there though... He also needs to make better adjustments. Shit, we should all be thankful that EWU stuck with the run for so long. Once they stopped running the ball, boy did they light us up! We couldnt stop it..

Unfortunately, Coogan's career is over from that neck/ spine injury that occured during camp. His injury hurt
the secondary too. He was a junior coming in. Just his presence in the deep middle would have "cleaned" things up a bit. No receiver would want any part of him coming over the middle. Plus he was a born tackler.

No one is as aggressive as Breske. No one likes to blitz more. Some people believe Breske is too aggressive. Defensive calls also depend on the personnel on the field.
