I don't follow the Missoulian closely, or News Media in general for that matter......but aside from some embarrassing typos, what has she actually been wrong about? Or lied about?
If you're going to accuse Gwen Florio or the Missoulian, or Lee Enterprises of having a biased then you better take a long hard look at your favorite news sources as well. ALL news media reports with a slant/agenda/biased.

They are attributing her news stories as being the cause behind the dismissals, reassignments, and retirements of University of Montana personnel?!?!?
You have to be kidding me. First off, I thought the point of journalism was to report news, not create it. Secondly, there is no way that a Missoulian news story actually was the reason for these actions - how on earth do they even remotely think they should take credit for that? Finally, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THAT?
"Yes - my news stories are responsible for destroying individuals careers, personal lives, and successful athletic programs." How someone could possibly be proud of something like this is something I cannot even begin to fathom.
Now, can a news reporter present a news story that may draw attention to an issue and indirectly cause some form of action? Certainly. And is it possible that individual may see it as a righteous cause and a worthy effort? Of course. But what type of asshole takes pleasure and pride in the results of what occurred in a situation like this??? Un-fuckin-believable.
More proof that Florio, Devlin, and their emlployer has an agenda and is driven by unethical journalistic practices - not to mention questionable moral behavior.
Seriously. I have no problem with wanting to sniff out news stories and report something that may be troubling. I even understand a sense of justice or setting things right. But taking satisfaction in the fallout and damage caused by that reporting is reckless and irresponsible.
And those are the two words that epitomize Gwen Florio.

I am so glad her excellent investigative reporting lead to arrests and convictions of all those gang rapers. Where is GGNez's award too? :roll:
One last comment.
Taking pride in protecting victims or preventing future crimes is absolutely something to praise. There is nothing necessarily 'wrong' with what Florio and the Missoulian have done in this situation. It's more about how they have gone about doing it, and why they seem to be doing it.
This award more than anything else demonstrates that tearing down the institution and success was more important to them than protecting or bringing justice to victims of this situation. It is proof of being motivated for the wrong reasons - and it makes you wonder if a better approach to this from the start could have accomplished the right objective without tearing everything down with it

The Missoulian only cares about selling newspapers, and UM is a cash cow. Think about the ad revenue that rolls in as a direct result of UM football. They are not stupid enough to want to "tear down" that institution.

So if this so-called newspaper is taking credit for Pflugrad being fired should he be able to sue them out of business if the investigation finds he did nothing wrong?

For a while I thought GGNez stood for Goddess Gwen's Never ending zzzz. However, some of what GGNez discusses makes me think otherwise and aside from Kramer and Sandusky comparisons or the STFU stuff about expressing ones opinions that is all she is doing too. So I figure her name stands for something like Go Griz North End Zone so whatever. We all know the real wicked witch blew her credibility a long time ago but will soon make another push for a real award by recycling the same BS we have heard over and over.
