People need to settle down, wow.

I only recall one or two 3-star recruits we've ever landed. Then we get a few early this year, everyone at that point takes it with a grain of salt saying we'll lose them for sure. The inevitable happens and we lose them to programs that we simply cannot compete with (UCLA as a good example), and then people FREAK OUT saying this class is going downhill fast.

really? I actually agree with that people need to get a grip, but quoting Aaron Fu***ng Rodgers is a bridge too far. Last time I checked discount double check boy is sitting at home to watch the Super Bowl.

You're talking about this guy, right?

lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. Not that there's anything wrong with that! There's a couple of us here, at least the ones that admit to it.

It would be nice to know WHY these players decommitted. Perhaps Delaney was preferred over Stitt? That doesn't seem likely. Speculate all you want.

Does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out...

We have Cy Sirmon and Kamron Johnson, if you're into stars. I think the star system is probably a good indicator, not great--look at MSU's 4 star DE last year.

We will have more kids with stars behind their names in the future as Coach Stitt establishes a track record at UM, we build and complete the new Washington-Champion's Center by 2017 or before, and we receive our 4 scholarships back in 2017, not to mention our strong academics and the natural beauty in and around Missoula and Western Montana.

One of the reasons Cy SIrmon, the kid from Wenatchee is probably sticking with us, is over the past three seasons, 2011-2013, we have 4 LB's that have gone on to the pro's, McSurdy, Coyle and Tripp to the NFL and Kanongata to the CFL. And Wyoming, UNLV, WAZZU, New Mexico and Idaho haven't quite done that well !!!

I still think DE Andrew Harris of Glacier and/or other walk-ons could turn out to be studs, aka Marc Mariani, Colt Anderson, and Tim Hauck !!!

I am with you billingsgriz, in fact I GUARANTEE that DE Anderw Harris will turn out to be a stud for Montana. This kid is ferocious :!:

And before we all get caught up in the star rating system, we should take note that there is absolutely zero, none, nada, former 5-star college football players starting in Super Bowl this weekend.

I was waiting for the "stars don't matter guy" to come out. Before the college football playoff rivals put out a chart showing the star ratings for all players on every teams roster last year. So basically the last 4-5 recruiting classes that make up each team. You probably think there are a lot of teams ranked high that haven't had a whole lot of success. Uh, no. Not even close. #1 was Alabama by a mile, #2 was Florida State, #3 was Ohio State, Oregon was around #13 I think. The only program getting elite recruits that is really struggling is Florida and Tennessee for a few years. The teams with the best players win. And these recruiting sites do an accurate job of who the best players are.

But I guess we now know that a college football team can't win the super bowl with 5-stars.

I see it this way. Montana is one of the best FCS places to play so kids will verbal here if no exciting FBS offers are in hand. Sometime a late offer comes in and the kid takes it.
No one knows how it will turn out. Some kid we aren't even talking about now will be the Griz best NFL prospect 3 years from now...

TRIVIA QUESTION: How many stars did Marc Mariani, Colt Anderson, Chase Reynolds, Brock Coyle, Jordan Tripp, Dave Dickenson have coming out of high school combined???? Answer: The University of Montana Grizzlies don't rely on fucking stars!

Great information, Intuitive !!!

I think one of the strengths of our recruiting specifically and our football program in general is we recruit kids with a great work ethic and for them to succeed on the field and in the classroom at UM, that work ethic will have to be developed even further while they are here playing and matriculating at UM.

In the interview with Brock Coyle last night on Kulr TV in Billings, a member of The SWX Sports Network of Mont., Washington, and Idaho, Brock mentioned hard work 4-5 times during his two minute interview from Phoenix. ( The first two minutes + are with Brock, the rest of the time Coach Binford of the Lady Shi##y Kitties explains why her team sucks and has won 1 of its last 8 games.)

Not freaking out. But this class is going downill. I know most of you say that we have great recruiting classes every year, and that's just not true. I like this class as it is more than last year (by a lot) buy losing those 3 hurts our class. Although, I'm confident UCLA is not going to offer Clark. Hope someone doesn't convince him that playing JUCO is his best option.

Well it sure sounds like you're freaking out. Realize "This Class" consists of only one student, the QB from Oregon who graduated early and is now attending UM. Otherwise "This Class" has consisted of pure speculation about those who gave a "verbal" commitment and those who might. There are a number of kids who appear to be in this class but nothing is certain until the fat lady sings. So phone up some NDSU broad and get her tuned up.

Come next Wednesday we will actually know who is in this class. Until then relax and don't fret about things. It looks like we will have some excellent athletes joining the team.
Go Griz! :ugeek:

"Gone downhill" in regards that it went from one of the greatest (on paper) recruiting classes that Montana has ever had in it's entire existence and moved to what certainly appears to be another solid and "usual" type of class, then yes I agree.
Sounds like we agree

Then I'm sure there was good reason to do so, which would also explain why this kid has Zero offers. Some issue

Had to be (1) something to do with red/blue pills, (2) Kessman retrieving a promised scholly, (3) wanting to give some else a full scholly, or (4) another DT in the wings. Did this get close?

What a freaking stupid statement. You know nothing about the situation and you throw the kid under the bus? Now that the story is out you will see that UM pulled it because they wanted to use the scholarship for other positions. The bush move is on Stitt.

What I continue to see is what some were afraid of earlier, that Stitt may have recruiting issues. Obviously he's in a learning curve here, and recruiting to UM is much different than recruiting to Col School of Mines. You most certainly cannot be getting barred from high schools in California....and that will spread quickly among other coaches.

Well, it's basically what they did/said to Woody Brandom as well....sure would have liked this big hoss clogging up the middle a-la Saenz....
